Chapter 7 - Unbroken and Forever HomeAt 8:30 PM, as the spring sun dipped below the Seattle horizon, painting the sky in sweeping tapestries of indigo, gold, and deep sapphire, the private terrace was illuminated by dozens of soft, twinkling fairy lights.

Detective Cole Voss walked up to our table wearing an immaculate black suit, raising his champagne glass toward me, his face relaxed into a warm, genuine smile.

"To Donna Tessa Vance!" Detective Voss toasted with deep, genuine pride. "The sovereign woman who survived the dark, exposed an empire, and built a legacy of unbroken strength, truth, and eternal grace!"

"To Tessa!" the entire terrace echoed in a warm, triumphant chorus, dozens of crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.

Across the dark, sparkling blue waters of Puget Sound, brilliant bursts of gold, sapphire, and silver fireworks exploded into the night sky, illuminating the smiling face of a woman who would never bow her head to anyone again.

There were no arrogant husbands beating wives in freezing alleys. There were no manipulative mistresses filming cries for help. There were no tears swallowed in quiet rooms.

The timid, silent victim was dead forever. The sovereign CEO and matriarch had claimed her true home.

And standing under the vast, unbroken sky, holding my head high, listening to the applause under the spring sun, I knew that my life, my heart, and my future were finally, beautifully, and forever home.
