Chapter 6 - The Delivery of LightFour months after the night at the Drake Hotel, a warm, clear spring sun painted the sweeping oceanfront gardens of the Moretti Estate in Lake Forest in brilliant shades of gold, rose, and deep sapphire.

The dark, predatory shadow of Nathan Vance, Chloe, and the struggles of my past were permanently, historically erased from my life.

Nathan Vance was convicted of High Federal Wire Fraud, Embezzlement, and Tax Evasion, receiving a twenty-five-year sentence in a federal maximum-security penitentiary without the possibility of early parole.

Chloe was blacklisted from high-society circles, forced to return her luxury jewelry and live a quiet, forgotten life in an outer suburb.

The former Vance Development firm was completely liquidated, its assets restructured and integrated into a new, multi-billion-dollar corporate entity: The Claire Moretti Foundation for Women & Children.

Under my personal executive leadership as President, the foundation built three state-of-the-art medical shelters and emergency housing centers across Chicago, providing free healthcare, legal defense, and financial support for low-income pregnant women, ensuring no mother would ever feel helpless or alone again.

On a warm, clear Friday morning in late May 2026, inside the private, high-security maternity wing of St. Jude Memorial Hospital, a healthy, beautiful baby girl entered the world.

She weighed seven pounds, six ounces, with a tuft of soft dark hair and bright, intelligent hazel eyes that looked up at the world with curious wonder.

We named her Sophia Claire Moretti.

I lay in the plush hospital bed, wearing a soft silk robe, holding my newborn daughter snugly against my chest.

Sitting beside my bed, holding my uninjured hand into his broad, calloused palm, was Adrian.

The feared Don of Chicago—a man who made corporate titans tremble—sat with tears of pure, overwhelming fatherly love glistening in his dark gray eyes as he gently touched our daughter's tiny fingers.

"She is magnificent, Claire," Adrian whispered, his voice cracking with deep emotion. "She looks just like her mother."

I smiled, resting my head against the soft pillows, feeling an absolute, weightless peace settle into every corner of my heart.

"She has her father's strength, Adrian," I answered softly, leaning up to press a tender kiss against his cheek. "And she will never have to doubt how much she is loved."
