Chapter 5 - The War on Moretti SyndicateBy 9:00 AM the following morning, the financial and corporate networks of Chicago erupted into open conflict.

Don Salvatore Moretti, humiliated by Dominic’s rejection on the docks, attempted to trigger a corporate boycott against the Kessler family’s commercial logistics firms, while Julianna leaked false stories to the local media claiming the Kessler Foundation was misusing hospital funds.
At 2:00 PM, a black Maybach pulled up to the glass corporate headquarters of the Chicago Medical Board.
I stepped out of the vehicle wearing an immaculate navy silk pantsuit provided by Dominic’s private stylist, holding my head high, flanked by Dominic, Marco, and three senior attorneys from the Kessler Legal Group.
Inside the glass executive auditorium on the top floor, Mr. Bell—the hospital administrator who had warned me three months ago—sat beside Don Salvatore Moretti and Julianna, attempting to revoke the Kessler Foundation’s primary operating charter for the pediatric wing.
When the double doors were thrown open and Dominic and I stepped inside, Mr. Bell jumped out of his leather chair, his face paper-white with terror.
"Mr. Kessler!" Mr. Bell stammered, his hands shaking frantically. "Please! We are holding an official board review regarding the foundation's corporate ethics!"
Dominic didn't shout. He walked smoothly down the aisle, pulling out an executive leather chair for me at the head of the conference table, standing beside my seat like an iron guardian.
"There is no ethics review, Mr. Bell," Dominic spoke deadpan, every word dropped into the room like an iron anvil. "Because thirty minutes ago, the Kessler Trust acquired eighty-five percent of the primary mortgage bonds for this entire hospital complex."
Mr. Bell collapsed back into his chair, the blood completely draining from his face.
Marco dropped a thick legal folder flat onto the mahogany table directly in front of Julianna Moretti.
"Furthermore," Marco added smoothly, "we have submitted certified bank records disclosing Don Salvatore Moretti’s illegal offshore attempts to bribe medical board members to federal prosecutors."
Don Salvatore stood up slowly, his hands trembling violently as two uniformed Federal Marshals stepped into the auditorium, slapping heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists for tax fraud and extortion.
Julianna wept hysterically, covering her face as her father was dragged flat across the carpet toward the elevator in chains.

Dominic looked down at Mr. Bell, his storm-gray eyes holding a cold, absolute authority.
"As for you, Mr. Bell," Dominic announced flatly, "your resignation as administrator is accepted, effective immediately. Miss Claire Donovan is appointed as the primary Director of Pediatric Operations."
