Chapter 7 - A New DawnTwo weeks later, the crisp air of early December carried the first delicate flakes of snow over the spires of Central Park.

Inside the private maternity suite of Saint Jude’s Hospital, the room was filled with the soft, beautiful symphony of newborn cries.

Dr. Sandra Vance stood beside the medical warming bed, her face glowing with triumph as she carefully wrapped three tiny, perfectly formed bundles in soft pink and blue cashmere blankets.

“Well, proud grandfather and mother,” Sandra beamed, looking up at us. “Meet the newest members of the Vance dynasty. Three healthy, perfect babies. Two girls and a boy.”

Tears spilled over my lashes as I looked down at the tiny faces resting against my chest. They were so small, so impossibly fragile, yet they held the entire universe within their tiny grips.

Julian stood beside my bed, his strong, weathered hand trembling slightly as he gently touched my son’s tiny hand. For the first time in his life, the ruthless billionaire investor looked completely undone by happiness.

“Welcome to the world, little ones,” Julian whispered, his voice thick with emotion.

The door to the suite opened softly, and my father’s old family portrait—which Julian had quietly recovered and restored from an old estate—hung proudly on the opposite wall, smiling down upon us.

I looked out the massive floor-to-ceiling window at the snow-covered skyline of Manhattan. The city sparkled beneath the winter sun, vast, powerful, and limitless.

When Ethan Mercer gave me twenty-four hours to disappear into the freezing rain, he thought he was casting away a broken, helpless wife. He thought he was clearing the board for a shinier prize.

Instead, he had inadvertently handed me back my true name, my family, and my empire.

I kissed the soft crown of my daughter’s head, feeling the warmth of three beating hearts against my own. The storm was over, the past was burned to ash, and our happily-ever-after was finally, beautifully beginning.
