Chapter 7 - Sovereign under the Open SkyAt 7:00 PM, as the spring sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky over Long Island in brilliant shades of gold, rose, and sapphire, the terrace was illuminated by dozens of soft, twinkling fairy lights.

A private gathering of fifty close friends, foundation staff, legal team members, and family sat around candlelit tables set up along the stone patio, enjoying fine food, champagne, and live classical music.

Six-month-old Ava slept soundly in a plush white bassinet near the French doors, wrapped in a soft cashmere blanket, her breathing soft and peaceful.

I stood near the marble balustrade wearing a breathtaking, floor-length emerald silk gown that caught the moonlight like liquid gold. Around my neck rested the Moretti Family Emerald—gleaming with an unbroken, beautiful light that matched the fire in my soul.

Dominic stepped up beside me, wearing an immaculate black tuxedo, holding a glass of fine champagne.

He turned his sharp gray eyes onto mine, his broad, warm palm wrapping around my fingers with deep, quiet devotion.

"A toast," Dominic announced, raising his glass toward the assembled guests, his baritone carrying smooth, clear, and warm across the quiet terrace. "To Chairwoman Claire Moretti! The woman who turned betrayal into an empire of light, truth, unbroken strength, and motherly love!"

"To Claire!" the entire terrace echoed in a warm, triumphant chorus, fifty glasses clinking together in the golden candlelight.

I raised my glass, taking a sip of sparkling juice, looking out over the vast, dark, beautiful water stretching before me into the unbroken horizon.

There were no arrogant husbands calling from church steps to hear me cry. There were no fake fertility doctors issuing false reports. There were no tears swallowed in quiet rooms.

The quiet, manipulated wife was dead forever. The sovereign chairwoman had claimed her throne.

And standing under the vast, unbroken sky, wrapped in the arms of the man who loved me, holding my radiant daughter close to my heart, I knew that my life, my freedom, and my future were finally, beautifully, and forever home.
