Chapter 6 - The Sanctuary on Long IslandSix months after the gala at the Plaza, the warm spring sun broke brightly over the manicured green lawns of a grand stone estate in Old Westbury, Long Island.

The fifty-acre property—surrounded by blooming white hydrangeas, ancient oak trees, and high stone security walls—sat bathed in golden afternoon light.

Grant Kingsley was convicted of Eight Federal Counts of Wire Fraud, Tax Evasion, and Falsification of Corporate Records, receiving a sentence of eighteen years in a federal maximum-security penitentiary without the possibility of early parole.

Sienna Vale received six years in a state facility, her luxury wardrobes and offshore bank accounts fully liquidated to satisfy civil restitution orders.

Meanwhile, back in Old Westbury, our home hummed with a profound, weightless peace.

Six-month-old Ava sat in a soft luxury playpen near the stone terrace floor, happily cooing as she played with soft wooden toys, her chubby cheeks rosy, her dark hazel eyes shining with health and joy.

I sat in a comfortable teak lounge chair wearing a simple cream silk dress, my dark hair falling in soft waves over my shoulders, my posture holding the absolute, unshakeable sovereignty of a queen who had conquered the dark.

Dominic walked out onto the terrace carrying two glasses of fresh lemonade, dropping onto the bench beside me, wrapping his broad arm around my waist, pulling me flush against his solid frame.

He pressed a deep, sweet, lingering kiss against my temple, his gray eyes filled with infinite devotion.

"The final transfer of the Kingsley real estate trust was completed this morning, my love," Dominic reported softly, handing me a leather file. "The Claire & Ava Foundation for Women's Health has opened ten new medical centers across the state."

I took a slow sip of my lemonade, looking out over the sparkling green lawns stretching before us into the unbroken horizon, feeling a deep, weightless peace settle into every corner of my soul.

"Thank you, Dominic," I whispered softly, turning my head to rest my cheek against his broad chest. "For giving me my life back."

May you like

Dominic smiled—a rare, breathtaking smile that lit up his handsome features—and tightened his grip around my waist.

"You gave yourself your life back, Claire," Dominic promised softly. "I just built the walls to protect it."
