Chapter 7 - A New Dawn

Three months later, the sun rose over Lake Michigan, casting a brilliant, golden sheen across the Chicago skyline.
Inside the expansive penthouse overlooking the lake—a home filled with sunlight, soft carpets, and a specially built corner filled with colorful toys and art supplies—five-year-old Lily was busy drawing pictures with oversized crayons.
"Mommy, look! I drew a dragon!" Lily shouted proudly, holding up a piece of paper covered in enthusiastic green scribbles.
Jessica walked over from the kitchen, holding a mug of coffee, and smiled down at her daughter. "It’s a magnificent dragon, sweetie. Does it breathe fire?"
"It breathes glitter!" Lily corrected solemnly.
A pair of strong arms wrapped around Jessica’s waist from behind, resting comfortably against her seven-month-rounded belly. Giovanni pressed a warm kiss to her neck, chuckling softly at Lily’s artistic declaration.
"Glitter dragons are the most dangerous kind," Giovanni murmured against her skin.
Jessica leaned back against him, feeling the solid, unshakable warmth of the life they had built together. The fallout from the Vance empire had settled months ago; Tyler was currently facing federal indictment for white-collar fraud, and Victoria had long since disappeared from Chicago society. The past was entirely buried.
"Are you ready for the charity gala tonight?" Giovanni asked, resting his hand gently over her belly. "My aunt insists on showing off her favorite niece-in-law to the entire city."
May you like
"Only if I get to pick the music," Jessica smiled, turning in his arms to look up into the amber eyes that had changed her world. "And only if you promise to dance with me first."
"Always," Giovanni whispered, sealing the promise with a kiss as the bright morning light filled their home with endless possibility.
