Chapter 7 - The Promise of TomorrowOne year later.

The summer sun shone brightly over the private cliffs of the Greenwich estate. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming roses, the gentle hum of the ocean breeze, and the joyful sounds of string quartets playing soft classical music.

A white silk canopy stood on the lush green lawn overlooking the ocean, decorated with thousands of white lilies and orchids.

Ethan Vale stood beneath the canopy, wearing a sharp black tuxedo. His hair was brushed back, his posture commanding, but his sharp grey eyes were filled with an unmistakable, nervous anticipation that his billionaire business partners had never seen before.

The music shifted into a grand, triumphant bridal march.

The crowd stood up in unison.

At the end of the long white aisle, stepping onto the grass holding a bouquet of white roses, was Maya.

She was an absolute vision. Her white lace wedding dress flowed around her like water, her long veil trailing behind her in the summer breeze. Her dark eyes were fixed entirely on Ethan, shining with an unshakeable, fierce love that lit up the entire world around her.

Ethan took a deep, shuddering breath as she reached the altar. Her father’s oldest friend, who had walked her down the aisle, placed her small hand into Ethan’s warm, steady palm.

Ethan squeezed her fingers gently, bringing her hand up to press a lingering kiss against her knuckles.

"You are breathtaking," Ethan whispered, his voice thick with raw emotion.

Maya offered him a radiant, beautiful smile that made his heart soar. "I love you, Ethan."

The justice of the peace began the ceremony, his words echoing softly across the ocean breeze. But for Ethan and Maya, the crowd, the flowers, and the grand estate vanished. There was only the heat of their hands interlocked together, the promises they had made in the dark, and the future they had fought so hard to build.

"Do you, Ethan Vale," the justice read, "take Maya Sterling to be your wedded wife, to love, honor, and protect her, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?"

Ethan looked down into Maya’s dark eyes, seeing his entire world reflected back at him.

"I do," Ethan said, his voice ringing with absolute certainty. "I promise to protect her, to cherish her, and to make sure she never regrets a single day of her life."

"And do you, Maya Sterling, take Ethan Vale to be your wedded husband?"

"I do," Maya whispered, tears of joy sparkling in her eyes. "With all my heart and soul."

"By the authority vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife," the justice announced with a warm smile. "You may kiss the bride."

Ethan didn't wait a single second. He pulled Maya into his arms, dipping her slightly as his lips met hers in a deep, passionate, possessive kiss that drew loud cheers and applause from the crowd.

When he finally lifted her back up, Maya laughed happily, wrapping her arms around his neck, looking out over the beautiful estate that was now their shared home.

"You saved my life, Ethan," Maya whispered against his cheek as they walked hand-in-hand down the white aisle together under a shower of white rose petals.

Ethan wrapped his arm securely around her waist, pulling his wife close against his side as the golden afternoon sun bathed them in a brilliant, everlasting light.

"No, Maya," Ethan smiled, kissing her temple. "You gave me a life worth saving."
