Chapter 7 - Unbroken and Forever HomeAt 8:30 PM, as the spring sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in sweeping tapestries of indigo, gold, and deep sapphire, the private terrace was illuminated by dozens of soft, twinkling fairy lights.

Six-year-old Lily and Emma ran up the marble steps of the terrace, throwing their small arms around Adrian’s legs and my dress, giggling happily as Adrian scooped them both up into his broad chest.

Adrian held his twin daughters securely against his broad chest while wrapping his free arm around my waist, pulling my body flush against his under the twinkling lights.

Marco raised his champagne glass from the main table, his deep voice carrying cleanly across the quiet grounds.

"To Don Adrian, Donna Claire, Lily, and Emma Mercer!" Marco toasted with deep, genuine pride. "The sovereign family who rebuilt an empire with unbroken strength, truth, and eternal love!"

"To the Mercer family!" the entire terrace echoed in a warm, triumphant chorus, dozens of crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.

Across the dark, sparkling blue waters of the Atlantic, brilliant bursts of gold, sapphire, and silver fireworks exploded into the night sky, illuminating the smiling faces of our guests gathered on the lawn below.

There were no corrupt uncles poisoning innocent wives in dark rooms. There were no terrified little girls crying in midnight fever. There were no secrets separating our hearts.

The cold, distant Don was dead forever. The sovereign father and husband had claimed his true home.

And standing under the vast, unbroken sky, wrapped in the arms of the man who loved every inch of my body and soul, holding our daughters safe in our hands, I knew that my life, my heart, and my family were finally, beautifully, and forever home.
