Chapter 6 - The Rose on Lakeshore DriveSix months after the night at the Caldwell Grand, a warm, clear spring sun painted the sky over Lake Michigan in brilliant shades of rose, gold, and deep sapphire.

The dark, abusive shadow of Gerald and Vivian Daly was permanently, historically erased.

Gerald Daly was convicted of Corporate Fraud and Debt Evasion, receiving a twelve-year sentence in a federal maximum-security facility, while Vivian Daly received an eight-year sentence for Embezzlement and Wire Fraud.

Meanwhile, Ren’s life underwent a radiant, sunlit transformation.

She didn't count boxes in unheated basements or hold her dresses together with safety pins anymore. As the Chief Executive Officer of Ren Daly Global Logistics—a two-hundred-million-dollar maritime conglomerate established by Dorian—she directed shipping fleets, managed global trade routes, and ruled Chicago’s logistics sector with an iron intellect and unshakeable grace.

On a warm, clear Saturday afternoon in late May, the vast oceanfront terrace of the Kaine Estate in Lakeshore Drive was decorated with blooming white orchids, blue silks, and sunlit champagne for our official wedding celebration.

Over three hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court judges, corporate partners, and close friends gathered around white-linen tables set up along the stone patio, enjoying fine food and live acoustic music.

Ren stood near the marble balustrade wearing a breathtaking, floor-length ivory silk wedding gown designed to celebrate every curve of her figure. Her dark hair fell in glossy waves over her shoulders, her hazel eyes shining with absolute, unshakeable happiness.

Down on her left hand rested an eight-carat flawless emerald-cut diamond engagement ring set beside the Kaine signet band.

Dorian walked out onto the terrace wearing an immaculate black tuxedo, stepping up behind her, wrapping his broad, warm arms around her waist, pulling her back flush against his solid chest.

He pressed a sweet, lingering kiss against her temple, his storm-gray eyes shining with an absolute, unshakeable devotion.

"What are you thinking about, my queen?" Dorian whispered softly into her ear.

Ren looked out over the vast, sparkling blue waters of Lake Michigan stretching before us into the unbroken horizon, feeling a deep, weightless peace settle into every corner of her soul.

"I was thinking about the seventeen floor tiles," Ren answered softly, turning in his arms to rest her hands against his broad chest. "When I stood beside a marble column holding my dress together with a safety pin."

Dorian offered a rare, breathtaking smile—a look of pure, eternal love that lit up his handsome, severe face.

"You were never just a girl with a safety pin, Ren," Dorian promised, leaning down to press his lips softly, fiercely against hers in a deep, unhurried kiss. "You were the queen I was waiting for."
