Chapter 4 - The Execution of Daly MaritimeAt 9:00 AM the following morning, a heavy autumn rain swept across Chicago's financial district.

Inside the grand glass-walled boardroom on the fortieth floor of the Kaine Logistics Building on LaSalle Street, sixteen senior bank directors, court trustees, and corporate auditors sat in tense, breathless silence.
At the head of the long executive table sat Dorian Kaine, wearing an immaculate black suit, his sharp jaw set tight, his dark eyes fixed on the entrance.
And sitting beside his right hand, wearing a custom midnight-blue wool suit provided by Dorian’s private stylist, her dark hair styled in soft, elegant waves, her hazel eyes holding an unshakeable, royal clarity, was Ren.
The heavy mahogany double doors of the boardroom were thrown open.
Gerald Daly and Vivian Daly walked inside, flanked by two frantic, low-tier attorneys. Gerald looked disheveled, his suit wrinkled, his face pale and bloodshot from spending six hours in a cold taxi outside Dorian's gate. Vivian wore a wrinkled red coat, her hair messy, her eyes wide with frantic, desperate rage.
"Dorian!" Gerald yelled, stumbling toward the table. "You can't execute a forced receivership! Daly Maritime has thirty days under corporate law to cure the debt default!"
"You had thirty days, Gerald," Dorian interrupted cleanly, his deep voice cutting through the room like an iron blade. "Until 4:00 PM yesterday... when your primary accountant proved that you diverted seven million dollars from your payroll trust into Vivian’s private offshore account in Nassau."
Vivian’s jaw sagged open in total, speech-bound horror. She looked at Ren sitting beside Dorian, her eyes burning with a toxic, desperate fury.
"You!" Vivian shrieked, pointing her manicured finger at Ren. "You dirty little bitch! You stole our ledgers! You sold out your own blood for a man who doesn't even know your name!"
Ren didn't flinch. She sat with her spine straight, her posture regal, looking down at her sister with a calm, chilling disdain that cut deeper than any physical blow.
"He knows my name, Vivian," Ren spoke, her voice clear, resonant, and echoing through the boardroom. "And unlike you... he knows how to read a balance sheet."
Ren reached into her leather folder, sliding a certified court order flat across the table directly in front of Gerald's trembling hands.

"This is a formal order of total asset forfeiture," Ren revealed deadpan. "Daly Maritime is officially liquidated. Every vessel, dock lease, and warehouse is legally transferred into the Ren Daly Logistics Trust."
Gerald collapsed flat onto his knees on the carpeted floorboards, weeping pathetically as his forty-year corporate empire collapsed into total, unadulterated ruin in less than five minutes.
