Chapter 6 - Rebuilding the Foundations(Target: 2,000 words - Focus: Preston and Esther repurpose the family mansion into a foundation for survivors; Esther finds her true calling as a leader.)

Six months later.
The grand Vance mansion no longer smelled of snobbery, expensive perfume, and hidden cruelty. The heavy iron gates had been repainted, and a beautiful new sign hung over the entrance: The Esther Foundation for Hope and Healing.
Instead of hosting arrogant billionaires and corrupt politicians, the estate had been completely transformed into a state-of-the-art sanctuary and legal defense center for women who had survived domestic abuse, emotional exploitation, and human trafficking. The hidden service kitchen where Esther had once suffered was completely remodeled into a beautiful, bright culinary training center for the residents.
I stood in the main hallway, watching Esther interact with the foundation's staff. She looked radiant, her confidence completely restored, her eyes sparkling with purpose. She was no longer the quiet girl who hid in the shadows; she was the director of an organization changing thousands of lives.
"You look beautiful, Director Vance," I said, walking up behind her and wrapping my arms around her waist.
She turned in my arms, a bright, genuine smile illuminating her face. "Thank you, Preston. The new legal team just arrived. We managed to secure pro-bono representation for twelve women this morning."
"I knew you would," I smiled, kissing her nose. "Aegis Holdings just approved a five-million-dollar annual endowment for the foundation. Your empire is growing, my love."
May you like
"It's our empire," she corrected softly, resting her head against my chest. "You gave me the strength to fight back, Preston."
"No, Esther," I said, lifting her chin gently, mirroring the gesture from that dark night in the service kitchen, but this time with pure joy. "The strength was always inside you. I just turned the lights on so the world could see it."
