Chapter 7 - A New DynastySix months later, the headlines in the Chicago Tribune whispered of shifting powers across the city’s corporate and real estate landscapes. The Aldridge development firm had been quietly absorbed into Salvatore Holdings, while former Councilman Vance had retired early to focus on his “health.”

In the sunlit penthouse overlooking Lake Michigan, Elena Salvatore stood on the private balcony, wrapped in a cashmere robe, sipping her morning coffee. Below her, the city bustled with life, vast and untamed. But she no longer felt small, invisible, or out of place.

The sound of heavy, measured footsteps approached from behind, followed by familiar arms wrapping around her waist, resting securely against her stomach. Dante rested his chin gently on her shoulder, breathing in the scent of jasmine and morning air.

“You’re up early,” he murmured, his voice rich and deep.

“I have a board meeting at ten,” Elena replied with a confident smile, turning slightly in his arms. “And then an architectural review for the new downtown community clinic my foundation is funding.”

Dante chuckled, pressing a soft kiss to her temple. “You’ve completely restructured half our philanthropic portfolio in less than six months. My accountants are terrified of you.”

“Good,” Elena laughed, her eyes bright and unburdened. “Someone needs to keep your empire honest.”

“My empire belongs to both of us,” Dante corrected gently, turning her to face him and looking down into her eyes with absolute, unyielding devotion.

Elena smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck. She had entered that hotel ballroom months ago expecting to be crushed by the ghosts of her past. Instead, she had found an anchor, a partner, and a kingdom of her own. The past was buried, the debt was paid, and their true dynasty was only just beginning.
