Chapter 4 - The Boardroom CoupThe conference room on the top floor of Dubois & Laurent usually hosted high-stakes client pitches, but today it felt like a war tribunal.

Around the polished glass table sat Jean Dubois, a very pale and shaken Mabel Laurent, two senior firm partners, and corporate counsel. At the opposite end of the table sat Ayla, flanked not by nervous junior assistants, but by Luca Bianchi and Matteo’s high-powered legal team.

"This is completely irregular!" one of the senior partners protested, slamming a file onto the table. "You cannot simply barge into private corporate arbitration claiming intellectual property claims without formal discovery proceedings!"

"We didn't come to argue discovery, counselor," Luca Bianchi said smoothly, opening his leather briefcase and pulling out a thick stack of financial audits. He slid them across the table toward Jean. "We came to execute a buyout."

Mabel, who had been dabbing her eyes with a designer tissue, sat up straight. "A buyout? Of what? Our firm is worth tens of millions—"

"Your firm was worth tens of millions," Luca corrected coldly. "As of 9:00 AM this morning, Cipriani Holdings has quietly acquired thirty-four percent of your outstanding commercial debt, recalled your primary real estate leases for this building, and bought out your three largest anchor clients—including Sterling and Vanguard."

Jean gasped, grabbing the edge of the table to steady himself. "You... you did what? You can't just weaponize capital against a partner agency!"

"We didn't weaponize capital against an agency," Luca smiled thinly. "We weaponized it against thieves. And there is only one condition under which Mr. Cipriani will halt total liquidation and bankruptcy proceedings against Dubois & Laurent."

All eyes at the table snapped to Luca in terrified silence.

Luca turned his head slightly toward Ayla, signaling for her to speak.

Ayla straightened her shoulders, looking across the table at Mabel and Jean—the two people who had spent nearly two years laughing at her clothes, stealing her work, and treating her like office furniture.

"The conditions are simple," Ayla said, her voice ringing clear and steady through the massive boardroom. "First, Dubois & Laurent will issue a public, written retraction and apology in the Wall Street Journal acknowledging that every major creative strategy credited to Mabel Laurent over the past eighteen months was authored exclusively by me."

Mabel let out a choked gasp of horror. "Dad! You can't let her do this! She's destroying my career!"

"Second," Ayla continued, ignoring Mabel completely, "the firm will transfer all remaining equity shares of the branding division into a newly independent trust—to be titled Bennett Creative—with me as sole managing partner, completely severed from this toxic enterprise."

Jean looked around the room, realizing with crushing finality that they had no cards left to play. Matteo Cipriani had completely boxed them in.

With trembling hands, Jean looked at Ayla. "And... and if we sign?"

"Then," Ayla said with a calm, devastatingly cool smile, "my husband might decide to let you keep your office furniture."
