Chapter 6 - The Promise on the TerraceThree months after the gala, the spring sun broke over the Lake Michigan shoreline, painting the clear blue waters in golden, sparkling light.

On the wide stone terrace of the Falcone estate, overlooking the lake, a small, private gathering of fifty close friends, house staff, and security operators sat in white wooden chairs set up along the stone patio.

The terrace was decorated with hundreds of blooming pink roses, white lilies, and soft silk ribbons fluttering gently in the sea breeze.

I stood near a white floral arch wearing a breathtaking, simple ivory lace gown that caught the sunlight like liquid gold. My dark hair was styled with fresh jasmine flowers, and my heart hammered against my ribs with an intense, joyful anticipation.

Beside me stood Marco, wearing a fresh suit, holding two small gold velvet bands.

The soft violin music shifted into a beautiful, flowing melody.

The glass doors of the terrace swung open.

Dante walked out onto the stone patio wearing an immaculate black tuxedo, looking more handsome, radiant, and happy than I had ever seen him in my life.

Walking beside him, holding his broad hand tightly, was four-year-old Sophia—wearing a small cream lace dress that matched mine, proudly carrying a silver basket of pink rose petals.

When Dante reached the arch, he stepped forward, taking both of my warm hands into his broad palms, his dark gray eyes shining with hot, unshed tears of pure, unadulterated devotion.

Sophia stood between our legs, looking up at both of us with a bright, radiant grin.

"Who gives this woman to be married to this man?" the minister asked warmly.

Sophia jumped up on her tiptoes, raising her small hand high in the air. "I do! I give Mommy to Mister!"

The guests let out a warm, affectionate round of applause that filled the quiet sea air.

Dante looked deep into my eyes, his voice trembling slightly as he spoke his vows.

"Rosa," Dante said, his baritone thick with raw, overwhelming emotion, "eighteen months ago, I was a dead man walking through a cold, silent hallway. I believed my life was buried in the dark forever. But your daughter took seven steps behind me... and she brought you into my home. You didn't just save my life, Rosa... you gave me a soul. I promise to love, protect, and honor you and Sophia for all the days of my life."

He pulled a small, flawless ten-carat solitaire diamond ring from the velvet band and slipped it onto my finger.

I looked up into his gray eyes, my tears spilling softly over my lashes, resting my hand over his heart.

"I love you, Dante," I whispered softly. "And I promise to love you for all the days of my life."

"By the authority vested in me," the minister smiled, "I now pronounce you husband and wife."

Dante pulled me into his broad arms, lifting me effortlessly into his embrace, kissing me with a deep, sweet, consuming passion that sealed our lives together under the open sky, while Sophia cheered, wrapping her small arms around both of our legs.
