Chapter 4 - The Unmasking at the DocksAt 10:00 AM the following morning, the private executive conference room at Pier 14 overlooking the East River was filled with severe, quiet tension.

Sitting around the mahogany table were six senior lieutenants of the Ferrara syndicate, along with my father, Edmund, who sat handcuffed to an iron chair, his face bruised, his rumpled coat torn, guarded by two armed operators.
Sitting at the head of the table, wearing an immaculate black suit, looking sovereign, cold, and absolute, was Nico.
Standing directly beside his right shoulder, wearing a floor-length dark emerald silk gown that draped over my frame like liquid jewel, holding the original Geneva trust binders, was me.
I no longer stood like a terrified victim. My back was straight, my head held high, my hazel eyes shining with a razor-sharp, unshakeable clarity that made Edmund flinch whenever he looked at me.
"Gentlemen," Nico announced, his baritone echoing through the quiet room. "Eleven years ago, Thomas Ferrara vanished. We were told he embezzled syndicate funds and fled to Europe."
Nico tossed the silver lion signet ring and the Geneva birth certificate flat onto the mahogany table between the lieutenants.
"Yesterday at 3:00 AM, we recovered Uncle Thomas’s remains from the rose garden at the Ashford estate," Nico revealed deadpan. "Along with the master trust documents proving that Edmund Ashford murdered him to seize his thirty-percent equity stake in our maritime terminals."
The six lieutenants jumped out of their chairs, their faces turning thunderous with pure, unadulterated rage as they glared at Edmund.
"You filthy bastard!" Lieutenant Marco roared, reaching for his sidearm. "You buried Don Thomas under a flowerbed?!"
"Wait!" Edmund shrieked frantically, squirming against his iron handcuffs, tears of pure terror spilling down his cheeks. "Listen to me! I raised her! I kept Nora alive for eleven years! I fed her! I clothed her! She owes her life to me!"
I took a slow, deliberate step forward from beside Nico, taking the toxicology and abuse records from my folder, dropping them flat onto Edmund's lap.
"You didn't keep me alive out of mercy, Edmund," I stated cleanly, every word dropped like an iron weight into the room. "You kept me alive because Clause 4 of my mother's trust required a living heir to maintain the land leases. You beat me, you burned me, and you tried to break my mind so I would never ask who my father was."
Edmund’s mouth opened and closed like a dying fish, zero words coming out of his pale lips.
Nico stood up from his chair, his towering frame casting an absolute shadow over Edmund.
"You sold Nora to me for eight million dollars, Edmund," Nico said, his storm-gray eyes holding zero mercy. "Thinking I would abuse her for your debt. But instead... you brought the true Donna of the Ferrara family back to her throne."

Nico turned to Leo. "Transfer Edmund Ashford to the State Attorney General’s Office. Deliver the forensic evidence, the Geneva documents, and the murder weapon. Make sure he spends the rest of his miserable life in a federal maximum-security penitentiary."
"Yes, Don Nico!" Leo replied, dragging Edmund’s weeping, groveling frame out through the double doors in heavy chains.
