Chapter 6 - The Gala at the DrakeIn late September 2026, four months after the grocery store incident, the grand ballroom of the Drake Hotel in Chicago was packed to absolute capacity for the annual Marlowe Heritage & Civic Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.

Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing an magnificent charcoal bespoke tuxedo, was Vincent Rossi. His broad six-foot-three frame was squared, his severe, handsome face radiating an unshakeable, sovereign authority and a profound, radiant peace.

Beside him stood nine-month-pregnant me, looking breathtaking in an emerald silk evening gown that celebrated my radiant, full maternal glow.

Vincent adjusted the microphone, his deep, resonant baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:

"Four months ago, I watched a brave young woman stand her ground against cowardice in a crowded store," Vincent announced to the silent room, his gray eyes shining with deep, genuine pride as he looked at me. "And she taught me that true royalty isn't inherited through fear... it is earned through truth, maternal courage, and unbroken love."

Vincent held his champagne glass high under the glittering lights.

"To my Chairwoman, my wife, and the queen of my heart: Donna Tessa Marlowe-Rossi!"

"To Tessa!" the entire room erupted into a warm, unanimous standing ovation, five hundred crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
