Chapter 5 - The Arrival of the AuthoritiesThe heavy iron front gates of the villa rattled as two police vehicles, accompanied by an armored federal transport van, pulled into the driveway, their red and blue lights flashing brilliantly against the rain-slicked palm trees.

The front doors were thrown open as two high-ranking detectives from the Commercial Crimes Investigation Department, flanked by my chief estate attorney, Rachel Vance, stepped into the dining room.

Rachel Vance wore an immaculate dark suit, holding a thick leather briefcase bound by red court seals.

"Emily," Rachel spoke cleanly, giving me a respectful nod before turning her sharp eyes toward Daniel and Margaret. "The emergency freezing order over all secondary assets associated with Tran Logistics was executed ten minutes ago. The police have arrived to execute the primary arrest warrants."

Margaret let out a high-pitched, hysterical shriek, throwing herself over Daniel on the floor. "NO! You can't arrest my son! This is a domestic misunderstanding! She's his wife! Everything she owns belongs to him under marriage laws!"

"Under Article 59 of the Law on Marriage and Family, Mrs. Tran," Rachel Vance corrected with razor-sharp authority, "pre-marital corporate equity, inheritance trusts, and assets acquired prior to marriage remain the absolute, sole property of the original owner. Furthermore, criminal embezzlement and corporate forgery between spouses are fully punishable under federal law."

The two detectives stepped forward cleanly, pulling heavy steel handcuffs from their belts.

CLICK. CLICK.

The steel cuffs snapped shut around Daniel’s wrists behind his back.

"EMILY! TELL THEM TO STOP!" Daniel screamed, thrashing against the floorboards as the detective hoisted him up by his lapels. "I LOVE YOU! I'M SORRY! I'LL NEVER LET MY MOTHER INSULT YOU AGAIN! PLEASE!"

"You took a picture of me kneeling on the floor three hours ago, Daniel," I said softly, stepping right in front of his face, pulling my phone from my pocket, displaying the photo he had sent to his family group chat. "You called me a useless servant."

I pressed a button, deleting the photograph permanently, then looked into his bloodshot, terrified eyes.

"And now," I promised, "you get to see what happens when the servant owns the house."

The detectives grabbed Margaret Tran by her arms as well, securing her wrists in secondary cuffs for accessory to wire fraud and asset laundering, dragging both mother and son out through the grand double doors into the pouring rain in total, groveling disgrace.
