Chapter 5 - The Insolvency of Eleanor VanceWhile Carter and Thomas were dragged through the central holding cells of the county jail in chains, a secondary, far more catastrophic collapse was taking place at the luxury suburban estate where Eleanor Vance resided.

At 11:00 AM, Eleanor sat in her lavish living room sipping fine tea, attempting to convince herself that her son’s legal connections would clear their names by noon.

Suddenly, three heavy commercial moving trucks, accompanied by four county sheriff deputies and a federal asset receiver, pulled into her driveway.

The front doors were opened cleanly by the receiver.

"What is the meaning of this?!" Eleanor screamed, jumping out of her plush armchair, her jade rings clattering against her teacup. "Get out of my house! I will have my son sue every one of you!"

The lead federal receiver stepped forward, holding a certified foreclosure and asset seizure order.

"Mrs. Eleanor Vance," the receiver announced calmly. "This property, alongside all personal vehicles, luxury jewelry, and secondary bank accounts registered under your name, was placed as collateral for a twelve-million-dollar commercial loan issued by Sterling Private Credit three years ago."

Eleanor froze, her heart taking a violent, suffocating leap into her throat. "Sterling... Credit?!"

"Your son, Carter Vance, secured that loan by forging corporate guarantees using Harrison Sterling's secondary logistics network," the receiver explained. "Following his arrest for felony fraud and domestic violence, Sterling Credit has declared full default. This estate is now federal property."

Moving personnel immediately began packing her antique furniture, her designer clothing, and her silver dining sets into heavy wooden crates.

"My clothes! My jewelry!" Eleanor wept frantically, running after a mover who was carrying her mink coat out the front door. "You can't leave me with nothing! I am Eleanor Vance!"

"You are an accessory to grand larceny and felony assault, Mrs. Vance," a female sheriff officer stated deadpan, stepping between her and the door. "And as of right now... you have thirty minutes to clear your personal belongings in a single suitcase before this house is sealed."

Eleanor dropped flat onto her knees right on her grand Persian rug, weeping in total, groveling defeat as her luxurious life dissolved into ashes before her eyes.
