Chapter 3 - The Assembly at the Grand BallroomAt 10:00 AM the following morning, the grand mahogany assembly hall atop the forty-story Manhattan Financial Tower was packed to absolute capacity.

Over four hundred prominent real estate magnates, shipping directors, municipal judges, and high-society investors gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers for the annual Vance Architectural & Development Assembly.

Sitting at the head of the raised executive table, wearing a tailored navy suit, holding a gold fountain pen, was thirty-two-year-old Ethan Vance. Beside him sat his pregnant mistress, Vanessa Sterling, wearing an expensive crimson silk designer dress, smirking arrogance toward the front row.

Ethan’s right hand was wrapped in a compression bandage, but he wore an arrogant, triumphant smile as he prepared to sign corporate buyout documents to liquidate his firm's equity.

"Gentlemen!" Ethan announced smoothly into the central microphone, his voice dripping with false bravado, "today we finalize the administrative acquisition of Vance Architectural, cementing my legacy as the premier commercial developer in Manhattan—"

BOOM!

The heavy double oak doors of the executive assembly hall were thrown open with a violent, hydraulic impact!

The chatter of four hundred high-society guests vanished into an absolute, speech-bound silence.

Walking down the central red-carpeted aisle, flanked by Chief Security Director Marcus Vance and four armed federal marshals, was Don Vincent Moretti.

He wore an magnificent dark charcoal bespoke suit, his broad six-foot-three frame squared, radiating an untouchable, sovereign authority that dropped the room's temperature to absolute zero.

And walking right beside him, supported by his strong arm, her left arm held securely in an elegant dark silk sling, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk maternity gown that celebrated her graceful figure, her dark hair falling in glossy waves over her shoulders, her hazel eyes burning with absolute, sovereign victory... was Donna Lena Bennett-Moretti.

Around her neck hung the fifty-carat emerald signet pendant of the Moretti Family Dynasty, her posture regal, her presence dominating the entire room.

Ethan Vance dropped his gold fountain pen.

CRASH!

The heavy metal pen clattered flat against the mahogany table, rolling onto the floor as his face went from arrogant red to an ugly, paper-white shade of green. Vanessa Sterling stood up so fast she knocked her champagne glass over onto her crimson train.

"E-ETHAN...?! VINCENT MORETTI?! LENA?!" Vanessa stammered, taking two panicked steps backward against the window. "WHAT IS THIS ILL-MANNERED INTERRUPTING?! SHE IS JUST A PENNILESS HOUSEWIFE!"

"She isn't a penniless housewife, Vanessa," Vincent Moretti announced flatly, his clear, deep baritone carrying cleanly across the vast room, dropping the temperature to zero. "She is the Executive Chairwoman of the Moretti-Bennett Trust... and the sole owner of your entire building."

Bridget Colton stepped forward, sliding a thick stack of court-stamped legal notices flat into Ethan Vance’s trembling hands:

TOTAL EQUITY SEIZURE & LOCKOUT: Certified federal enforcement of the Moretti Trust Deeds, confirming Chairwoman Lena Bennett-Moretti's 100% controlling equity, terminating Ethan Vance’s executive employment effective immediately.

ARREST WARRANTS: International arrest warrants served on Ethan Vance and Vanessa Sterling for Premeditated Aggravated Assault, Attempted Fetal Homicide, Forgery, Extortion, and $85 Million Wire Fraud.

IMMEDIATE FORECLOSURE & EVICTION: Total forfeiture of all personal properties, luxury vehicles, and bank accounts registered under Vance Architectural.

"THIS IS UNLAWFUL!" Ethan shrieked, thrashing wildly as two uniformed federal marshals stepped forward with heavy steel handcuffs. "LENA, I AM YOUR HUSBAND! YOU CAN'T SACRIFICE ME FOR A MAFIA BOSS!"

"You stopped being my husband the second you broke my arm and let your mistress laugh at my baby," Lena corrected deadpan, stepping beside her father, wrapping her right arm around his waist, leaning flush against his solid side. "Now you pay for every single tear."
