Chapter 4 - The Transfer of PowerJudge Vance spent ten long, agonizing minutes reviewing the original Sterling contract, comparing the signatures, seals, and certified corporate filings with the state registrar.

When he finally looked up, his face was set in a mask of absolute, unyielding judicial authority.

"The court finds that the protective clause in the Sterling Venture Capital Agreement is legally valid, binding, and fully enforceable under Illinois Corporate Law," Judge Vance declared, his voice echoing through the silent room like thunder.

Adrian thrashed his hands through his dark hair, stumbling backward against the railing, his breath coming in ragged, desperate gasps. "No... no! You can't take my company! I built Vale Global! I'm the Chief Executive Officer!"

"You didn't build Vale Global, Adrian," I stated flatly, stepping straight up to his table, looking down into his bloodshot, weeping eyes. "My father's money saved it, my silence protected it, and your arrogant stupidity just handed it to my son."

Judge Vance raised his pen, signing the master emergency injunction orders:

EMERGENCY RESTRUCTURING DECREE: Transferring forty-five percent of Vale Global’s controlling voting proxy directly into The Leo Arthur Vale Irrevocable Trust.

APPOINTMENT OF TRUSTEE: Naming Evelyn Sterling Vance as sole Chief Managing Trustee with absolute executive voting authority over all corporate operations.

ASSET FREEZE: Executing an immediate freeze on all of Adrian Vale’s personal stock options, corporate expense accounts, and secondary offshore assets pending a full forensic audit.

SLAM!

The gavel struck the block with a final, decisive sound that shattered Adrian’s world into a million jagged pieces.

Celeste Vale let out a high-pitched, hysterical shriek, collapsing backward into her seat, clutching her chest as two female bailiffs stepped forward to escort her out of the gallery.

Adrian fell flat onto his knees right on the polished oak floorboards, his hands clutching together in a desperate, groveling plea as tears streamed down his pale, stubbled cheeks.

"Evelyn! Please!" Adrian wept, his voice cracking into raw, pathetic screams that echoed down the hallway. "Forgive me! I was wrong! I was stupid! I love you, Evelyn! Let me see my son... please! Let me be a father to Leo!"

I picked up my leather briefcase, buttoning my tailored coat, looking down at the man who had told me I was never enough for him while stirring scotch in Paris.

"You were never enough for us, Adrian," I spoke softly, every word dropped like a final, unbroken truth. "Stop pretending you're surprised."

I turned my back on him, walking cleanly down the central aisle and out through the double mahogany doors into the bright morning sun, leaving him groveling in total, public ruin on the courtroom floor.
