Chapter 4 - The Confrontation in the PrecinctLuke stared at Claire as if she were a ghost rising from the grave.

For five years, Luke had operated under the comfortable assumption that I was an isolated orphan—a weak, malleable girl with no family to protect her, no wealth to back her up, and no voice to speak out against his abuse. He had successfully erased my past, rewritten my history, and built an empire on stolen capital and shattered lives.
Now, standing in the harsh fluorescent light of the police precinct, the illusion of his untouchable dominance evaporated completely.
"You..." Luke choked out, his hands gripping the edge of the metal table so hard his knuckles turned white. "You're... Caroline's sister. The one who supposedly moved to Europe and forgot she existed."
"I never left the country, Luke," Claire replied, walking slowly toward the table until she stood just inches away from him. "I simply waited in the shadows, gathering forensic evidence, financial audits, and medical records from your past across three different states, waiting for the exact moment you made the fatal mistake of leaving a paper trail that my legal team could exploit."
Luke’s face twisted into an ugly mask of rage. He lunged forward, straining against the heavy steel tether bolted to the table, but the two armed guards stepped in instantly, shoving him back down into his chair.
"You bitch!" Luke screamed, spittle flying from his lips. "She’s my wife! She belongs to me! You have no right to interfere in our marriage!"
"Marriage?" Claire laughed—a sharp, mirthless sound that cut through the room like a razor blade. "You didn't marry my sister, Luke. You kidnapped her psychological state. You systematically abused, starved, and tortured a woman who poured her heart, her inheritance, and her family's patents into your worthless startup."
Luke’s eyes darted frantically around the room, realizing there was no escape, no clever legal loophole, and no bribe large enough to buy his way out of this cage.
"Caroline... where is Caroline?" Luke suddenly shifted tactics, his voice dropping into a sickening, pathetic whimper as he looked up at Claire with crocodile tears pooling in his eyes. "Tell her I'm sorry! It was stress! The pressure of the company, the miscarriages... I loved her! Tell her to come talk to me!"

"She won't be talking to you ever again, Luke," Claire said, turning her back on him with absolute disgust. "The only place you will ever see my sister again is from behind a reinforced glass partition in a maximum-security courtroom."
As Claire walked out of the interview room, leaving Luke pounding his fists against the metal table and screaming curses into the empty air, the heavy steel door slammed shut behind her, sealing his fate once and for all.
