Chapter 3 - The Freezing of the EmpireWhile I spent the night under heavy medical sedation and police guard, the corporate demolition of Luke Vance’s life was executed with the surgical precision of a military strike.

At 8:00 a.m. sharp, while Luke was sitting in a holding cell at the central police precinct demanding his phone call, three federal marshals and a team of senior corporate litigators from Sterling Legal walked through the glass double doors of Vance Technologies' downtown headquarters.
Marcus Vance—Luke’s cousin and chief financial accomplice—was sitting behind the executive mahogany desk on the forty-second floor, reviewing quarterly projections when the doors flew open without a knock.
"Excuse me! This is a private executive suite!" Marcus barked, standing up and adjusting his tie. "You can't just walk in here—!"
The lead litigator, a sharp-eyed woman named Attorney Evelyn Thorne—ironically sharing the name of Luke's tragic first wife—slapped a thick stack of federal injunctions and asset seizure orders directly across the polished wood.
"Mr. Marcus Vance, you are hereby served with emergency federal warrants for corporate fraud, money laundering, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy in connection with the unlawful liquidation of Sterling Family Trust assets," Thorne announced, her voice echoing off the glass walls.
Marcus let out a nervous, high-pitched laugh. "Sterling Family Trust? You’re out of your mind! Vance Technologies is an independent entity built entirely on Luke's intellectual property!"
"Luke Vance owns roughly two percent of the underlying software architecture," Thorne replied coolly, signaling two federal agents to step forward with handcuffs. "The core foundational patents, the server infrastructure, and ninety-eight percent of the venture capital funding that launched this company were underwritten by the Sterling Family Trust under Caroline Sterling’s maiden name—a name your cousin legally coerced her into suppressing after marriage."
Marcus’s face drained of color as the cold steel cuffs clicked around his wrists. "That's... that's impossible. She didn't have access to—"
"Caroline didn't need access. Her family did," Thorne interrupted, checking her gold wristwatch. "As of nine minutes ago, all corporate accounts have been frozen, payroll reserves have been seized, and the board of directors has voted unanimously to strip Luke Vance of his CEO title, his shares, and his corporate indemnification."
Down at the police precinct, Luke was finally released from his holding cell into the interview room, escorted by two detectives who looked at him with undisguised contempt.
Sitting across the metal table was his high-priced defense attorney, sweating profusely under his collar.
"Luke, we have a catastrophic problem," the lawyer stammered, sliding a tablet across the table. "The district attorney just upgraded the charges. You’re facing felony domestic violence, aggravated thermal assault, and reckless endangerment resulting in grievous bodily harm. But that’s not even the worst of it."
Luke scoffed, leaning back in his chair with an arrogant smirk despite the dark circles under his eyes. "Relax. I’ll post bail within the hour. My corporate liquidity is untouchable."
"Your company is gone, Luke!" the lawyer snapped, losing his professional composure. "Vance Technologies was raided by federal marshals thirty minutes ago. Every bank account is frozen. Your personal credit cards have been declined, your penthouse has been repossessed by the mortgage lender under an immediate default clause, and your cousin Marcus was just arrested for financial fraud!"
Luke bolted upright, his chair screeching against the concrete floor. "What?! Who authorized that?! Who has that kind of power?!"
The interview room door slowly creaked open.
Standing in the doorway, supported by a cane but standing tall with unyielding posture, was Claire. Behind her stood two armed federal agents and Dr. Sandra Vance.
May you like
Claire stepped into the room, her eyes locked onto Luke’s trembling frame with a gaze so freezing it could have shattered glass.
"Good morning, Luke," Claire said smoothly, her voice dripping with lethal irony. "I believe you were looking for the person who owns your life."
