Chapter 6 - The Festival of the Golden StarsIn late September 2026, ten months after that fateful afternoon outside Frank's bakery, the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel in Chicago was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Theo, Eli & Naomi Calloway Heritage Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.
Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing a dark bespoke charcoal tuxedo, my broad six-foot-four frame squared, my handsome face glowing with deep, quiet pride, holding five-year-old Theo and Eli near my sides, was me.
Beside me stood Donna Naomi Vance-Calloway, looking breathtaking in a floor-length dark emerald silk evening gown, her hazel eyes glowing with complete happiness.
Around Naomi’s neck hung my late father’s restored gold signet pendant.
I adjusted the microphone, my deep, resonant baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:
"Ten months ago, I stood outside a bakery on the South Side, saw two hungry four-year-old boys counting dimes with their mother, and saved my soul," I announced to the silent room, my gray eyes shining with genuine, unshakeable emotion as I looked down at Naomi and our twin sons. "And on that afternoon, a brave mother who chose her children over an empire shattered a dark conspiracy, claimed her true birthright, and brought my entire world back to the light."
I held my champagne glass high under the glittering lights.

"To Naomi, Theo, and Eli!" the entire room erupted into a warm, unanimous standing ovation, five hundred crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
