Chapter 2 - The Audit of the Hidden TwinsBy 1:00 AM, the top-floor executive command suite at The Calloway Tower overlooking Lake Michigan was operating under an impenetrable, non-negotiable tactical lockdown.

Outside the private elevator banks, twenty armed Vance Security operators in dark charcoal suits guarded every corridor. Inside, sitting in a high-backed velvet armchair, wearing a clean wool sweater provided by my staff, holding a cup of warm chamomile tea, sat Naomi Vance.
In the adjoining master suite, four-year-old twins Theo and Eli were fast asleep in a massive king-sized bed wrapped in plush cashmere blankets. Beside them lay two fresh boxes of hot chocolate croissants from Frank’s bakery and custom wooden planetary models I had ordered delivered by private courier.
In the central executive study, sitting around a broad black granite conference table, were me, Senior Corporate Prosecutor Bridget Colton, and two federal forensic accounting experts.
Bridget Colton opened three heavy, red-sealed leather binders, sliding digital ledgers, wiretap transcripts, and hospital records flat onto the table before Naomi and me:
"Preston, Naomi," Bridget spoke crisp and fast, her sharp blue eyes holding surgical professional fury. "The forensic audit into Evelyn Calloway, her legal proxy Richard Sterling-Smith, and the Calloway Family Heritage Trust is complete."
I stood by the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, my dark charcoal suit jacket discarded, my white shirt sleeves rolled up to reveal my broad, tattooed forearms, my hands clenched behind my back.
Bridget tapped the digital displays:
THE INTERCEPTED TRUST DOSSIER: Certified banking records proving Evelyn Calloway illegally diverted $120 million from the Calloway Family Grandfather Trust—money legally designated for Preston’s direct biological heirs—into offshore accounts in Liechtenstein.
THE FORGED SURROGACY & CUSTODY FRAUD: Intercepted wiretaps capturing Evelyn communicating three days ago with a corrupt family court judge, planning to use Naomi’s modest income to forcefully seize four-year-old Theo and Eli and place them under Evelyn's sole legal guardianship to retain control of the trust.
THE SOVEREIGN BLOODLINE DEED: Original probate charters confirming that four-year-old Theo Calloway and Eli Calloway are joint fifty-one percent controlling common stock equity holders over the entire Calloway Global Maritime Network upon claiming their spousal and paternal trust rights.
Naomi covered her face with her small, calloused hands, tears of profound relief and five years of buried heartbreak spilling over her fingers.
"She came to the hospital room when the boys were three days old, Preston," Naomi whispered, her voice breaking into a ragged thread. "I was in an incubator ward holding two five-pound babies who could barely breathe. Your mother stood over my bed and told me if I ever called your phone, she would use your syndicate's lawyers to take them from me and lock me in prison."
I crossed the room in two long strides, dropping flat onto one knee right in front of Naomi’s chair.

The broad, muscular titan whose name commanded terror across Midwest shipping routes reached out, taking her soft, trembling hands into my broad, warm, calloused palms, pressing his lips gently against her knuckles.
"They used my name to terrorize you, Naomi," I swore, looking into her hazel eyes with an unshakeable, diamond-hard resolve. "They built their luxury on your tears and my sons' hunger. Tomorrow morning at the Calloway Heritage Assembly... we give our boys their empire."
