Chapter 7 - A New LegacySix months later, the autumn chill returned to Chicago, but our lives were filled with warmth and light.

The old Callahan estate—once a cold fortress of shadows and secrets—had been completely transformed. Caleb and I had moved into a sunlit home closer to the lake, surrounded by trees, laughter, and the patter of little feet as Lily learned how to run across the grass.
It was a Saturday evening, and we were hosting a quiet family dinner on the back patio.
Ethan arrived carrying a massive teddy bear that was nearly as big as Lily. He walked onto the patio, dressed casually without his usual tie, looking more like an affectionate uncle than a billionaire CEO.
“Uncle Ethan!” Lily shrieked happily, toddling across the deck straight toward him.
Ethan scooped her up effortlessly, swinging her into the air as she burst into peals of contagious laughter. He carried her over to the patio table where Caleb and I were setting out dinner.
As we sat together under the warm glow of string lights hanging from the pergola, watching the sun dip below the Chicago skyline, I looked around the table.
There was no more hiding. No more running. No more cold metal cages or lonely nights wondering if someone would ever choose our hearts.
Caleb reached across the table, sliding his hand over mine, lacing his fingers securely through mine. He looked at me with a depth of love that made my breath hitch, just like the first day we met.
“Thank you for holding on,” Caleb murmured softly, pressing a kiss to the back of my hand.

“Always,” I smiled, resting my head against his shoulder while Ethan poured three glasses of sparkling cider to toast our new beginning.
The ghosts of the past were finally laid to rest, replaced by a future built on truth, family, and an unbreakable love that no empire could ever buy.
