Chapter 6 - The Cleansing FireBy Monday morning, the financial and legal fallout had shaken Chicago to its core.

Headlines across every major newspaper blared the scandal: “CALLAHAN GLOBAL FRAUD EXPOSED: EMBEZZLEMENT, COVER-UPS, AND A MIRACULOUS RETURN.”
Julian Callahan and his co-conspirators were arrested by federal agents before they could board a private flight to Zurich. The corporate accounts were frozen, audited, and restructured, with millions of dollars rightfully returned to the community housing funds Julian had stolen from.

Caleb looked up at his older brother, his eyes filled with a quiet, hard-earned reconciliation. “We almost were, Ethan. But love has a funny way of breaking down steel doors.”
Ethan chuckled, reaching out to gently tickle Lily’s little chin. “Especially when the door was opened by a little girl with a very loud set of lungs.”

I laughed softly, feeling the last remnants of my old fears melt away. “If she hadn't cried in the hallway that morning, none of this ever would have happened.”
“Then she’s the best investment this company has ever made,” Ethan declared with a grin.
