Chapter 6 - The Festival of the Golden NurseryIn late September 2026, ten months after that horrifying morning in the empty nursery, the grand auditorium of the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Ethan & Eva Knox Heritage & Neonatal Protection Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.
Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing a dark bespoke charcoal tuxedo, my broad frame squared, my handsome face glowing with deep, quiet pride, holding ten-month-old Ethan and Eva in my arms, was me.
Beside me stood Donna Claire Bennett-Knox, looking breathtaking in a floor-length dark emerald silk evening gown that celebrated her graceful figure, her hazel eyes glowing with complete happiness.
Around Claire’s neck hung my late mother’s restored gold signet pendant.
I adjusted the microphone, my deep, resonant baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:
"Ten months ago, I made the most shameful mistake of my life, staying fifty-two hours in Miami while my wife gave birth to our twins alone," I announced to the silent room, my gray eyes shining with genuine, unshakeable emotion as I looked down at Claire and our healthy children. "And on that night, the bravest woman I know protected our children, saved an empire, and taught me that a true man doesn't build wealth... he guards his family."
I held my champagne glass high under the glittering lights.

"To Claire!" the entire room erupted into a warm, unanimous standing ovation, five hundred crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
