Chapter 6 - The Unbroken CovenantLater that evening, after the guests had departed and little Lily was fast asleep inside her warm, firelit bedroom suite, Hannah and I walked slowly along the stone balustrade overlooking the river.

The acoustic music had faded, replaced by the soft, soothing sound of the river waves crashing against the rocks below.

I reached into my vest pocket, pulling out a small velvet box, opening it flat before Hannah under the starlight.

Inside sat a delicate gold necklace holding a platinum pendant engraved with six words: FOREVER SAFE, MY SOVEREIGN HANNAH WHITAKER.

Tears of pure, weightless joy welling in her hazel eyes, Hannah reached out, tracing her fingers over the engraved words, looking up into my storm-gray face.

"I had it crafted by the finest jeweler in Milan, Hannah," I revealed softly, my deep baritone burning with an eternal, unshakeable devotion. "So that you will never doubt where you and Lily belong again."

Hannah threw her arms around my neck, pulling my handsome face down to hers in a deep, passionate, unhurried kiss that sealed our future forever under the twinkling stars.

"I love you, Grant," she whispered against my lips.

"I love you, Hannah," I swore back, my deep baritone carrying the weight of an absolute, unbroken covenant. "Forever and always."
