Chapter 3 - The War for the Rowan TrustBy 8:00 AM the following morning, the corporate and social sectors of New York detonated into an unadulterated frenzy.

The news that Grant Whitaker—the undisputed sovereign Don of the East Coast syndicate—had permanently canceled his engagement to Celeste Rowan made front-page headlines across every major financial journal and social column.
At 10:00 AM, an emergency meeting of the Rowan Shipping Corporation board of directors was convened on the top floor of the Whitaker Tower on LaSalle Street.
Sitting at the head of the long executive table, wearing a dark charcoal three-piece suit, his posture tall, broad, and unyielding, was me.
Sitting beside my right shoulder, wearing a custom navy wool suit provided by my private stylist, her dark hair styled in glossy waves, her hazel eyes holding a quiet, royal clarity, was Hannah.
Standing across the table, surrounded by four frantic litigators, wearing a dark coat, her face pale, bloodshot, and disheveled from spending twelve hours begging her board members for support, was Celeste.
"This is an absolute farce, Grant!" Celeste shrieked, slamming her hands flat onto the glass table. "Hannah Brooks was a temporary domestic worker! She has zero legal standing in the Rowan Shipping Corporation! My father's will explicitly named me as the sole surviving heir!"
"Your father's will named you as the sole surviving heir under the assumption that your brother, Julian Rowan, died without legitimate issue, Miss Rowan," Marco announced cleanly, stepping forward and dropping a thick leather binder flat onto the table.
Marco opened the binder, projecting a certified DNA paternity report from Johns Hopkins Medical Center onto the primary wall monitor.
The green text illuminated the room:
PATERNITY CONFIRMATION: 99.98% — Lily Brooks identified as the biological daughter of the late Julian Rowan.
RESTITUTION CLAIM: $45 MILLION — Retroactive trust allocations and interest seized from Celeste Rowan’s private accounts.
IMMEDIATE ARREST WARRANT — Issued by the State Attorney’s Office for Extortion, Fraud, and Embezzlement.
Celeste’s jaw sagged open in total, speech-bound horror. She stumbled backward against her attorney’s chair, her hands shaking violently as she stared at the DNA report on the wall.
"No... No! THAT'S A LIE!" Celeste screamed, her voice cracking in hysterical panic. "SHE FORGED THE SAMPLES! GRANT, YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME!"
Hannah stepped forward, stopping directly beside my chair, looking down at Celeste with a calm, chilling disdain that cut deeper than any physical blow.
"I didn't forge anything, Celeste," Hannah spoke, her voice clear, resonant, and echoing through the silent boardroom. "For five years, you made me believe I was nothing. You made me sit in dark rooms wondering if my daughter would freeze to death. But today... my daughter gets her father's name back."
Two uniformed Federal Marshals, accompanied by two Chicago homicide detectives, stepped through the double doors, slapping heavy steel handcuffs around Celeste Rowan’s wrists with an iron snap.

Celeste wept pathetically, thrashing against her restraints as she was dragged flat across the carpet toward the elevator in chains, her social standing, wealth, and freedom completely erased forever.
