Chapter 3 - The Purge of the Buffalo Industrial DocksAt 10:00 AM the following morning, the grand mahogany boardroom atop the forty-story Buffalo Financial Center was packed to absolute capacity.

Over three hundred senior syndicate capos, commercial logistics directors, high-society attorneys, and corporate shareholders sat around a forty-foot carved walnut table beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers for the annual Mancuso Syndicate Assembly.

Sitting near the head of the table, wearing a tailored charcoal suit, holding a silver pen, was Pietro Rossi—temporarily released under heavy armed escort to execute corporate proxy transfers. Beside him sat his corrupt partner, Victor Vane, smirking as they prepared to sign papers that would absorb the Mancuso berths into their shell corporation.

"Gentlemen!" Victor Vane announced into the central microphone, his voice dripping with condescending authority, "today we ratify the administrative takeover of the Mancuso Logistics Berths due to Don Adriano Mancuso's unfortunate domestic turmoil—"

BOOM!

The heavy double oak doors of the executive boardroom were thrown open with a violent, hydraulic impact!

The chatter of three hundred corporate executives vanished into an absolute, speech-bound silence.

Walking down the central red-carpeted aisle, flanked by Chief Security Director Marcus Vance and four armed federal marshals, was Adriano Mancuso.

I wore a magnificent charcoal bespoke suit, my broad six-foot-four frame squared, radiating an untouchable, sovereign authority that dropped the room's temperature to absolute zero.

And walking right beside me, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk suit that celebrated her graceful figure, her shoulder supported by my arm, her dark hair falling in glossy waves, her eyes burning with absolute victory... was Donna Julia Mancuso.

She no longer wore oxygen tubing; a portable micro-respiratory unit rested discreetly in her silk clutch, her posture regal, her presence dominating the room.

Pietro Rossi dropped his silver pen.

CRASH!

The heavy metal pen clattered flat against the mahogany table, rolling onto the floor as his face went from arrogant red to an ugly, paper-white shade of green. Victor Vane stood up so fast he knocked his leather chair backward against the window.

"P-PIETRO...?! ADRIANO?! JULIA?!" Victor Vane stammered, taking two panicked steps backward. "WHAT IS THIS ILL-MANNERED INTERRUPTING?!"

"She isn't an interruption, Victor," I announced flatly, my deep baritone carrying cleanly across the vast room, dropping the temperature to zero. "She is the Executive Chairwoman of the Mancuso Maritime Trust... and the owner of your entire life."

Bridget Colton stepped forward, sliding a thick stack of court-stamped legal notices flat into Pietro Rossi’s trembling hands:

TOTAL MARITIME RECOVERY: Certified federal enforcement of the Mancuso Trust Deeds, transferring fifty-one percent controlling common stock equity directly to Chairwoman Julia Mancuso.

ARREST WARRANTS: International arrest warrants served on Pietro Rossi and Victor Vane for Attempted First-Degree Premeditated Murder (in the chemical sabotage of Julia and Adriano), Industrial Arson, Framing an Innocent Spouse, and $110 Million Wire Fraud.

IMMEDIATE EVICTION: Total forfeiture of all personal properties, luxury vehicles, and bank accounts registered under Pietro Rossi’s shell companies.

"THIS IS UNLAWFUL!" Pietro shrieked, thrashing wildly as two uniformed federal marshals stepped forward with heavy steel handcuffs. "YOU'RE TAKING THE WORD OF A DYING WOMAN OVER MY TWENTY YEARS OF SERVICE?!"

"She didn't give me her word, Pietro," I corrected deadpan, stepping beside Julia, wrapping my broad arm around her waist, pulling her flush against my side. "She showed me the surveillance tapes. And now you pay for every breath she lost."

Pietro Rossi and Victor Vane thrashed and wept hysterical, groveling pleas as marshals locked steel cuffs around their wrists behind their backs, dragging them out of the Buffalo Financial Center in total, public disgrace, while television news cameras captured their complete downfall for the morning news.
