Chapter 3 - The Confrontation at the Maritime ExchangeAt 10:00 AM the following morning, the grand mahogany assembly hall of the East Coast Maritime Exchange on Wall Street was packed to absolute capacity.

Over four hundred prominent shipping magnates, syndicate leaders, federal prosecutors, and high-society reporters gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers for the annual corporate ratification.

Sitting at the head of the raised executive table, wearing a dark suit, holding a gold-headed cane, was sixty-five-year-old Victor Moretti—the head of the rival syndicate that had funded Vanessa Blake’s betrayal. Beside him sat his legal team, smirking as they prepared to absorb the frozen Hayes shipping lines.

"Gentlemen!" Victor announced smoothly into his microphone, his voice dripping with aristocratic greed. "Due to the tragic personal disarray of Richard Hayes, the Moretti Syndicate is executing its option to acquire controlling interest over the East Coast Commercial Docks—"

BOOM!

The heavy double mahogany entrance doors of the exchange were thrown open with a violent, hydraulic impact!

The chatter of four hundred high-society guests vanished into an absolute, speech-bound silence.

Walking down the central red carpet, flanked by Chief Security Director Marcus Vance and four armed federal marshals, was me.

I wore a crisp charcoal bespoke suit, my broad frame squared, my face hollowed out by grief, my dark eyes burning with an absolute, unshakeable resolve.

And walking right beside me, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk dress that celebrated her elegant, seven-month pregnant figure with queenly majesty, holding the original Bennett Maritime Title Deeds openly against her chest, was Grace Bennett.

Victor Moretti dropped his gold-headed cane.

The crystal water glass beside him smashed flat against the table as his face went from arrogant red to an ugly, paper-white shade of green.

"G-GRACE...?! RICHARD?!" Victor stammered, taking two frantic steps backward against the table. "WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS INTERRUPTION?!"

"The interruption is over, Victor," Grace announced flatly, her clear, silver bell voice carrying cleanly across the silent hall, dropping the room's temperature to zero. "And so is your theft."

Bridget Colton stepped forward, sliding a thick stack of court-stamped legal notices flat into Victor Moretti’s trembling hands:

TOTAL MARITIME RECOVERY: Certified enforcement of the original Bennett Trust Deeds, transferring fifty-one percent controlling equity in the East Coast Docks directly to Chairwoman Grace Bennett.

CRIMINAL ARREST WARRANTS: Federal arrest warrants served on Victor Moretti and Vanessa Blake for Attempted Murder, Corporate Wire Fraud, and Medical Conspiracy.

SYNDICATE TERMINATION: Permanent revocation of all Moretti shipping licenses across North America.

Lead Marshal Miller stepped forward, locking heavy steel handcuffs around Victor Moretti’s wrists behind his back.

"Victor Moretti," Marshal Miller declared coldly. "You are under arrest."

Vanessa Blake—dragged out from the lower holding cells in handcuffs—thrashed and shrieked hysterical, groveling pleas as she and Victor were paraded out of the Maritime Exchange in total, public disgrace, while news cameras captured their complete downfall for the morning news.
