Chapter 7 - The Unbroken SanctuaryOne year later, on a clear, golden evening in late October, the grand stone terrace of our Lake Forest estate was filled with light, music, and laughter.

A small, private wedding gathering of fifty close friends, security staff, and foundation members sat in white wooden chairs set up along the stone patio overlooking the dark, peaceful lake.

I stood near a white floral arch wearing a breathtaking, simple ivory lace gown that caught the sunset like liquid gold.

Beside me stood Alexander, wearing an immaculate black tuxedo, looking more handsome and radiant than I had ever seen him.

The minister smiled, opening his book.

"Do you, Alexander Moretti, take Emily Vance to be your lawful wedded wife, to love, honor, and protect her for all the days of your life?"

Alexander looked into my eyes, his broad palm wrapping around my fingers with absolute, eternal devotion.

"I do," Alexander swore softly, his baritone ringing across the quiet lake.

"And do you, Emily Vance, take Alexander Moretti to be your lawful wedded husband?"

"I do," I whispered, my heart bursting with a joy so vast it filled the entire sky.

"By the authority vested in me," the minister smiled, "I now pronounce you husband and wife."

Alexander pulled me into his arms, lifting me effortlessly into his embrace, kissing me with a deep, sweet, consuming passion that sealed our lives together forever.

Down below, the blue waves of Lake Michigan crashed gently against the stone walls, and as the warm autumn sun bathed us in golden, unbroken light, I knew that my real life had finally, beautifully, and forever begun.
