Chapter 4 - The Showdown in BrooklineAt 10:30 AM, three black armored Maybachs pulled up to the front entrance of the Brookline Memory Care Sanctuary.

The quiet, sunlit lobby was filled with high-stakes tension.
Derek Morrison stood near the reception desk wearing his leather precinct jacket, holding his badge in one hand and the eviction papers in the other, yelling frantically at the terrified facility director.
Behind him stood his two corrupt vice partners, their hands resting aggressively near their sidearms.
"I don't care about your corporate policies!" Derek snarled at the director. "Clara Hart’s secondary medical bills are thirty days overdue! Under municipal code 402, I am executing an immediate health-eviction order!"
BOOM!
The heavy glass entrance doors were pushed open by two uniformed state troopers.
Walking down the center aisle, wearing an immaculate floor-length ivory wool coat over her cashmere sweater, holding her head high, her posture royal and unshakeable, was me.
And walking directly beside me—wearing a dark tailored suit, his broad hand anchored securely around my waist, radiating a terrifying, absolute authority—was Lorenzo Benedetti.
Derek dropped his eviction papers. FLUTTER.
The pages scattered across the carpeted floor, but Derek didn't look down. His bloodshot eyes bulged out of his head, his face going completely paper-white as he recognized the man standing beside the woman he had abused.
"Benedetti...?" Derek stammered, his voice cracking into a high, pathetic squeak. "What... what are you doing here?!"
Lorenzo stepped forward, his massive frame casting a dark, terrifying shadow over Derek.
"I am here as the primary benefactor of the Brookline Medical Trust, Detective Morrison," Lorenzo announced cleanly, his deep baritone echoing through the silent lobby.
Derek took an involuntary step back, his hand trembling near his hip. "Look... Mr. Benedetti... this is precinct business! She's my ex-girlfriend! She stole money from my personal accounts!"
"She didn't steal anything from you, Morrison," I spoke, stepping out from beside Lorenzo, my hazel eyes sharp, clear, and unyielding. "You used my mother's medical bills to blackmail me for six months. You hit me, you threatened me, and last night... you tried to sell me to a gambling syndicate."
Derek’s two vice partners looked from Lorenzo’s cold, lethal face to the ten armed operators standing outside the glass doors. Without a word, both partners unclipped their badges, laid them flat on the reception counter, and walked straight out the back exit, abandoning Derek entirely.
Derek stood alone, sweating profusely, tears of pure terror cutting through the dirt on his face.

"Isabella... please..." Derek whimpered, reaching a hand out toward me. "We can talk about this! I loved you!"
"You didn't love me, Derek," I replied deadpan, every word sharp as a diamond. "You loved my fear. And today... I am fearless."
