Chapter 6 - The Council of SovereignsIn late May 2026, a month before the annual syndicate summit, I hosted the primary regional directors and allied family heads on the grand terrace of our East Hampton estate.

Over two hundred prominent business leaders, federal judges, legal teams, and close associates gathered around white-linen tables set up along the flagstone patio, enjoying fine food, vintage wine, and live acoustic music.

This was not a meeting of dark crime bosses; it was the formal rededication of Vance Global Infrastructure into a fully legitimate, publicly traded corporate entity.

Clara stood beside me at the head of the terrace, wearing a breathtaking emerald silk gown that accommodated her growing, healthy baby bump. Her skin glowed under the spring sun, her hazel eyes radiating absolute, unshakeable victory and sovereign grace.

Down on her right hand rested a simple, magnificent ten-carat emerald signet ring—the official Seal of the Vance Family Matriarch.

Marcus and Sal stood near the terrace steps, wearing tailored suits, watching over the celebration with proud, watchful eyes.

Bridget Colton walked out onto the terrace holding a crystal glass of sunlit champagne, stepping up beside Clara near the balustrade.

"Look at this empire, Donna Clara," Bridget smiled warmly, watching the sunlit courtyard filled with silver laughter and blooming flowers. "You and Don Adrian built all of this out of unbroken truth."

Clara looked out over the vast, sparkling blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean stretching before us into the unbroken horizon, leaning her head comfortably against my broad chest as I wrapped my arm securely around her waist.

"We didn't build it out of anger, Bridget," Clara answered softly, clinking her glass gently against hers under the spring sun. "We built it because love was stronger than the monsters who tried to break us."
