Chapter 6 - The Rose on Lake Shore DriveSix months after the afternoon in Courtroom 402, the warm spring sun painted the sky over Chicago in brilliant shades of rose, gold, and deep sapphire.

The dark, abusive legacy of the Vance family was permanently erased.

Arthur Vance and Thomas Vance were convicted of Child Endangerment, Extortion, and Judicial Bribery, receiving twenty-five-year sentences in a federal maximum-security penitentiary, while Judge Harold Vance was stripped of his license and imprisoned.

Meanwhile, my life inside the Moretti Estate underwent a radiant, sunlit transformation.

Eleven-year-old Lily enrolled in an elite private academy in Lake Forest, excelling in her studies, piano, and equestrian riding, her blue eyes shining with radiant, unbroken happiness. Six-month-old Leo grew into a healthy, chubby one-year-old toddler who took his first steps across the grand foyer floorboards under my watchful eye.

My estate was no longer a cold, dark fortress. It was a home filled with silver laughter, bright footsteps, and endless warmth.

On a warm, clear Saturday afternoon in late May, the vast oceanfront terrace of our estate was decorated with blooming white orchids, yellow sunflowers, and sunlit champagne for a grand family celebration.

Over two hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court directors, corporate partners, and close friends gathered around white-linen tables set up along the stone patio, enjoying fine food and live acoustic music.

Lily stood near the marble balustrade wearing a breathtaking white summer dress, holding one-year-old Leo in her arms, laughing happily as he reached for a passing butterfly.

I stood beside them, wearing a comfortable dark linen suit, holding a glass of sunlit champagne, looking out over my children with a deep, weightless peace that settled into every corner of my soul.

Marcus Reyes stepped up beside me, offering a quiet, respectful bow.

"The twelve-million-dollar land trust in South Chicago has been fully integrated into the Lily and Leo Moretti Foundation," Marcus reported warmly. "Your children are officially recognized as the sole heirs to the Moretti empire."

I took a slow sip of champagne, looking down at Lily, who looked up at me with a bright, radiant smile that lit up the entire terrace.

"They aren't just heirs, Marcus," I replied softly, my voice thick with deep, genuine pride. "They are my life."
