Chapter 6 - The Festival of the SunflowerIn late September 2026, ten months after that fateful night when Miguel showed me the secret contract, the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Vasquez-Bennett Heritage & Maternal Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.
Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk evening gown that celebrated my tall, radiant figure, was me.
Around my neck hung my late father Arthur's vintage silver signet pendant, my dark hair falling in glossy waves over my shoulders, my hazel eyes burning with absolute, unshakeable victory, inner peace, and sovereign grace.
Beside the stage stood my best friend Elena, alongside Bridget Colton and Marcus Vance.
And standing on my right, wearing an magnificent charcoal bespoke tuxedo, his broad six-foot-three frame squared, his handsome face glowing with deep, quiet pride, holding our baby daughter Elena in his broad arms, was Miguel Vasquez.
Miguel stepped up to the microphone beside me, wrapping his broad, warm arm around my waist, his deep baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:
"One year ago, I signed a contract to protect the woman I had secretly loved for four years," Miguel announced to the silent room, his storm-gray eyes shining with genuine, unshakeable devotion as he looked down at me and our daughter. "And on a night three days before it expired, the bravest woman I have ever known took my hand, stood beside me, and brought my entire life back to the light."
Miguel held his champagne glass high under the glittering lights.

"To my Chairwoman, my savior, and the queen of my heart: Donna Catherine Bennett-Vasquez!"
"To Catherine!" the entire room erupted into a warm, unanimous standing ovation, five hundred crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
