Chapter 3 - The Assembly at the St. RegisAt 10:00 AM the following morning, the grand mahogany ballroom of the St. Regis Hotel in downtown Manhattan was packed to absolute capacity.

Over three hundred high-society investors, corporate logistics magnates, city officials, and federal prosecutors gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers for the Moretti-Bennett Corporate Merger Gala.

Standing at the central podium, wearing an expensive grey suit, holding a glass of vintage champagne, was fifty-eight-year-old Richard Bennett—my uncle. Beside him stood Victor Moretti, smirking as he prepared to sign the final acquisition papers.

"Gentlemen!" Richard announced into the microphone, his voice dripping with aristocratic greed, "today we celebrate thirty years of Bennett corporate expansion, while officially absorbing the defunct assets of my late, disgraced brother Arthur—"

BOOM!

The heavy double oak doors of the grand ballroom were thrown open with a violent, hydraulic impact!

The chatter of three hundred high-society guests vanished into an absolute, speech-bound silence.

Walking down the central red-carpeted aisle, flanked by Chief Security Director Marcus Vance and four armed federal marshals, was Miguel Vasquez.

He wore a dark bespoke charcoal suit, his broad six-foot-three frame radiating an untouchable, sovereign authority that dropped the room's temperature to absolute zero.

And walking right beside him, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk gown that celebrated her graceful figure, holding her hand firmly in his, was me.

My dark hair fell in glossy waves over my shoulders. My dark eyes burned with an unshakeable, radiant peace and sovereign victory.

Richard Bennett dropped his champagne glass.

CRASH!

The crystal glass shattered flat against the parquet floorboards, sparkling wine splashing over his designer shoes. His face went from arrogant red to an ugly, paper-white shade of green.

"C-CAT...?! MIGUEL?!" Richard stammered, his voice cracking into a high, pathetic thread. "WHAT IS THIS AMBUSH?! YOUR MARRIAGE CONTRACT EXPIRES IN FORTY-EIGHT HOURS!"

"The contract doesn't expire, Richard," I announced flatly, my clear, silver voice carrying cleanly across the silent ballroom, dropping the temperature to zero. "It consolidates."

Bridget Colton stepped forward, sliding a thick stack of court-stamped legal notices flat into Victor Moretti’s trembling hands:

TOTAL CORPORATE RECOVERY: Federal enforcement of the Bennett-Vasquez Trust Deeds, transferring fifty-one percent controlling common stock equity directly to Chairwoman Catherine Bennett-Vasquez.

ARREST WARRANTS: International arrest warrants served on Richard Bennett and Victor Moretti for First-Degree Wire Fraud, Corporate Sabotage, and $120 Million Embezzlement.

THE PREGNANCY CLAUSE: Formal registration of the Vasquez heir, permanently locking the corporate proxies in perpetuity.

"WHAT IS THIS?!" Victor Moretti shrieked, thrashing as two uniformed federal marshals stepped forward with heavy steel handcuffs. "SHE'S A BROKE GIRL! YOU CAN'T SEIZE MORETTI GLOBAL!"

"She isn't a broke girl, Victor," Miguel corrected deadpan, his gray eyes flashing with a cold, lethal fire. "She is the Matriarch of the Vasquez Dynasty. And she owns your shipping ports."

Richard Bennett thrashed and wept hysterical, groveling pleas as marshals locked steel cuffs around his wrists behind his back, dragging him and Victor out of the St. Regis Ballroom in total, public disgrace, while news cameras captured their complete downfall for the morning news.
