Chapter 6 - The Trial of the ConspiratorsThree months later, the high-security tribunal convened in the underground subterranean auditorium of the Moretti estate.

Seated around the massive walnut conference table were the senior capos, regional directors, and allied family heads from New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and Montreal. Every man wore dark suits, their expressions solemn and respectful as they reviewed the forensic evidence, the decrypted telemetry logs, and the signed confessions of Victor Hale and Isabella Romano.

Standing in the center of the room, behind a reinforced glass partition, were Victor, Isabella, and Marcus Romano.

Dante Moretti sat at the head of the table. He wore an immaculate charcoal three-piece suit, his posture tall, broad, and unyielding. The jagged scar at the base of his neck was visible above his collar, no longer a mark of vulnerability, but a badge of survival.

“The evidence has been examined and verified by every regional director,” Sal Bruno announced, standing up to address the tribunal. “The conspiracy to chemically manipulate the Don, surrender syndicate territory to the Falcones, and usurp corporate control has been proven beyond any shadow of doubt.”

Sal looked toward Dante. “The sentence under syndicate law for high treason and internal conspiracy is absolute execution for the ringleaders, and permanent banishment for their associates.”

The room went dead silent. Every eye turned to Dante.

Dante stood up slowly. His presence filled the massive auditorium like a physical weight, commanding absolute obedience from every man in the room.

He looked through the glass partition at Isabella. The woman who had planned to keep him a digital prisoner for the rest of his life stared back at him with hollow, defeated eyes.

“Victor Hale served my father faithfully for thirty-five years,” Dante spoke, his deep baritone echoing cleanly off the stone walls. “He chose greed and cowardice over honor. Isabella Romano chose ambition over loyalty. They will not face a firing squad. They will spend the remainder of their natural lives in solitary confinement at our maximum-security facility in upstate New York, with no communication to the outside world.”

Dante paused, his eyes narrowing into cold slits.

“If any man in this room ever believes that mercy is a sign of weakness,” Dante continued, his voice dropping into a lethal whisper, “he is welcome to test me right now.”

Not a single capo raised his head. Every man bowed in absolute submission.

“The tribunal is adjourned,” Dante commanded.
