Chapter 6 - The Gala of the Burgundy BookIn late September 2026, the grand ballroom of The Brown Palace Hotel in Denver was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Daniel Carter Heritage & Integrity Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.

Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk evening gown that celebrated her tall, radiant figure, was Clara Carter.

Around her neck hung a delicate gold signet pendant, her dark hair falling in glossy waves over her shoulders, her dark eyes burning with absolute, unshakeable victory, inner peace, and sovereign grace.

Beside the stage stood four-year-old Nori, looking like a little angel in a yellow lace dress, holding her gray stuffed rabbit, alongside Bridget Colton and Marcus Vance.

And standing on Clara’s right, wearing an magnificent dark bespoke charcoal tuxedo, his broad six-foot-three frame squared, his handsome face glowing with deep, quiet pride, was Sebastian Vale.

Sebastian stepped up to the microphone beside Clara, wrapping his broad, warm arm securely around her waist, his deep baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:

"Three years ago, an honest man gave his life trying to protect the truth," Sebastian announced to the silent room, his grey eyes shining with genuine, unshakeable devotion as he looked down at Clara and Nori. "And on a cold winter night, his little daughter walked into my study, held my secret ledger... and brought my entire life back to the light."

Sebastian held his champagne glass high under the glittering lights.
