Chapter 5 - The Collapse of a PredatorFor three agonizing seconds, the only sound in the grand courtyard was the hum of the Mercedes engine idling in the driveway.

Ethan stared at Adrian as if he were looking face-to-face with a ghost. The name Prescott had finally penetrated the alcoholic fog of his rage, connecting the dots between the billionaire tech mogul whose face occasionally appeared on financial news networks and the man who had just dismantled his entire corporate empire with a few taps on a tablet.

“Pres... Prescott...?” Ethan whispered, his knees visibly buckling beneath him as the full magnitude of his catastrophe crashed down on his shoulders. “No... no, please... Mr. Prescott, this is a misunderstanding! Elena... Elena is my wife! She’s emotional, she’s unstable, she doesn't know what she’s doing!”

Adrian didn't even blink. He didn't offer a shred of pity.

“You had five years to treat her with respect, Ethan,” Adrian said coldly. “You chose violence, control, and cowardice instead. Now, you’ll spend the next decade of your life explaining your offshore tax evasion schemes to a federal magistrate.”

Marcus nodded to the tactical team.

In a flash of coordinated precision, the four security operatives moved in. Before Ethan’s hired thugs could even raise their hands, they were pinned face-down against the hood of the Mercedes in plastic restraints.

Ethan panicked, turning to run back toward his rental vehicle, but Marcus intercepted him effortlessly, sweeping his legs out from under him and pressing him firmly against the gravel driveway.

“Federal and local law enforcement have been notified,” Marcus announced loudly, reading from a radio earpiece. “State troopers are five minutes out to take custody of the trespasser.”

From my vantage point on the second-floor observation gallery, I watched the entire scene unfold with my breath caught in my throat.

The man who had terrorized me, controlled my every move, and made me feel like I was completely trapped in a cage with no exit was currently pinned facedown in the gravel of a billionaire’s driveway, stripped of his wealth, his power, and his arrogance.

He looked small. Pathetic. Powerless.

Just then, a pair of warm, gentle hands rested on my shoulders.

I turned around to find Adrian standing behind me. He had quietly left the courtyard and walked back upstairs to check on me.

“It’s over, Elena,” he said softly, looking down into my eyes with a reassuring smile. “He can never hurt you again.”

A heavy, emotional sob broke loose from my chest, and without hesitation, I threw my arms around Adrian’s neck, burying my face in his chest as the tears I had held back for months finally poured out in a torrent of absolute relief.

Adrian wrapped his strong arms securely around me, holding me tightly against him as if he never intended to let go.

“You’re safe now,” he whispered against my hair. “You and Lily both.”
