Chapter 6 - The Fall of Eleanor BlackwoodThe tarmac at Teterboro Airport was slick with a cold, pre-dawn mist.

A sleek white Gulfstream G650 sat idling on the runway, its turbine engines whining with a low, metallic roar. Two federal agents from the U.S. Attorney’s office stood near the portable airstrip stairs alongside Richard Blackwood, who leaned heavily on his cane despite the freezing wind.

Ethan and I stood a few yards away, Noah still sleeping soundly in the back of Ethan’s car parked outside the security gate with a trusted driver.

As the black diplomatic sedan pulled up alongside the private jet, the rear door swung open.

Eleanor Blackwood stepped out.

She wore a tailored Chanel tweed coat, dark sunglasses hiding her eyes against the glare of the runway lights, and her silver-blonde hair pinned up in an immaculate French twist. She looked every bit the untouchable queen of New York high society—until she saw the federal agents waiting for her.

Eleanor froze. She turned her head, spotting Richard standing near the stairs, and her face twisted into a mask of pure, unadulterated venom.

“Richard,” she sneered, walking forward with her designer weekender bag clutched tightly in her hand. “Have you lost your mind? Sending your little lapdogs to harass me on the tarmac? I’m taking a personal trip to Zurich.”

“You’re taking a trip to a federal holding facility in Brooklyn, Eleanor,” Richard said, his voice ringing out clearly over the jet engine noise. He gestured to the agents. “Show her the warrant.”

One of the agents stepped forward, pulling a folded legal document from his breast pocket. “Eleanor Blackwood, you are being placed under arrest for wire fraud, embezzlement, and interstate extortion.”

“This is absurd!” Eleanor shrieked, her aristocratic composure finally shattering into jagged pieces. She tried to push past the agent toward the jet stairs, but two officers blocked her path, taking her firmly by the elbows. “Ethan! Ethan, where is my son? Tell these animals to let go of me! Ethan!”

From the shadows of the tarmac escort vehicle, Ethan stepped forward into the pale morning light.

He didn't run. He didn't yell. He walked slowly, stopping ten feet away from his mother as the handcuffs clicked into place around her wrists.

“It’s over, Mother,” Ethan said quietly. “I found the safe. I read the files. I know about the extortion payoffs, I know about the foundation funds, and I know what you did to Emma seven years ago.”

Eleanor stopped struggling. She turned her head slowly, her dark sunglasses sliding down the bridge of her nose to reveal eyes burning with incandescent hatred.

“That little nobody?” Eleanor spat, her voice dripping with venom. “I saved you from ruin! She was a stain on the Blackwood name! You were supposed to marry into the Hales, take over the Senate seat, and build an empire! Not spend your life changing diapers for a girl who smells like cheap coffee!”

Ethan didn't flinch.

“She isn't a stain,” Ethan said, his voice steady and unshakeable. “She is the only real thing I’ve ever had. And you’re going to spend the rest of your natural life in a prison cell wondering how you managed to lose everything while trying to control it.”

He turned his back on her as the agents led her toward the unmarked federal SUV.

Eleanor screamed curses into the cold morning air, her voice fading as the heavy doors slammed shut and the vehicle sped away toward the highway.
