Chapter 7 - Unbroken and Forever HomeOn a clear, warm Saturday afternoon in late October 2026, the sweeping oceanfront gardens of the Moretti Estate in Gold Coast Chicago were decorated with blooming white orchids, yellow sunflowers, and sunlit tables for Laura and my official wedding vow renewal celebration and Sophie’s seventh birthday.

The dark, predatory shadow of fake photographs, corrupt capos, and six years of separation was permanently, historically erased from our lives.

Over three hundred prominent community leaders, supreme court justices, Marcus Vance, Bridget Colton, Laura's flight attendant friends, and close friends gathered around white-linen tables set up along the stone patio, enjoying fine food, vintage wine, and live acoustic music.

Laura Bennett-Moretti stood near the grand marble balustrade wearing a breathtaking floor-length ivory silk wedding gown that caught the soft autumn breeze. Her dark hair fell in glossy waves over her shoulders, her hazel eyes shining with absolute, unshakeable victory, inner peace, and sovereign grace.

Down on her right hand rested the ten-carat emerald signet ring—the official Seal of the Moretti Family Matriarch.

Seven-year-old Sophie ran across the manicured green lawn in her tiny ivory shoes, giggling happily as she flew a giant dragon kite with Marcus Vance, her joyous laughter echoing across the quiet lake.

Vincent Moretti walked out onto the stone terrace wearing an immaculate dark tuxedo, holding two glasses of sunlit cider, stepping up beside Laura near the balustrade.

He wrapped his broad, warm arm around her waist, pulling her flush against his solid six-foot-three frame, leaning down to press a sweet, lingering kiss against her temple.

"What are you thinking about, my queen?" Vincent whispered softly into her ear.

Laura looked out over the vast, sparkling blue waters of Lake Michigan stretching before us into the unbroken horizon, leaning her head comfortably back against his broad chest.

"I was thinking about a flight at thirty thousand feet, Vincent," Laura answered softly, a radiant, beautiful smile lighting up her face. "And how our daughter brought us straight to our true home."

Vincent offered a soft, breathtaking smile—a look of pure, eternal love that lit up his severe, handsome features.

"You and Sophie saved my soul, Laura," Vincent promised, pulling her and Sophie—who had run up to hug our legs—into his broad, protective embrace under the autumn sun. "And I will spend the rest of my life protecting yours."

Marcus Vance raised his champagne glass from the primary table, his clear, strong baritone carrying cleanly across the quiet grounds.

"To Don Vincent, Donna Laura, and Little Princess Sophie Moretti!" Marcus toasted with deep, genuine pride. "The sovereign family who broke the dark, conquered the storm, and claimed their true home!"

"To the Moretti family!" the entire terrace echoed in a warm, triumphant chorus, dozens of crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.

Across the dark, sparkling waters of Lake Michigan, the evening sun set beneath the horizon, painting the sky in sweeping tapestries of gold, rose, and deep sapphire.

There were no arrogant capos plotting in dark rooms. There were no fake promises or cold nights keeping their hearts from peace. There were no fears, debts, or shadows separating their lives.

The quiet, suffering flight attendant was dead forever. The sovereign Donna, Chairwoman, and queen had claimed her true home.

And standing under the vast, unbroken sky, wrapped safe in the arms of the man who loved her, watching her brilliant daughter bloom under the autumn sun, Laura Bennett-Moretti knew that her life, her heart, and her family were finally, beautifully, and forever home.
