Chapter 6 - The Festival of RestorationIn late September 2026, the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel in Chicago was packed to absolute capacity for the annual Moretti Global Civic & Health Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.

Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing an magnificent charcoal bespoke tuxedo, was Vincent Moretti. My broad six-foot-three frame was squared, my severe, handsome face radiating an unshakeable, sovereign authority and a profound, radiant peace.

Beside me stood six-year-old Sophie, looking like a little princess in a silver lace dress, holding her plush bunny proudly in her hand.

And standing at my side, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk evening gown that celebrated her recovered, radiant figure, holding my hand with a warm, unbreakable grip, was Laura.

I adjusted the microphone, my deep, resonant baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:

"Six years ago, I was a man living in total darkness, believing that power was measured in weapons and territory," I announced to the silent room, my dark eyes shining with deep, genuine pride as I looked at Laura and Sophie. "And then a brave woman and a six-year-old angel on a flight from Dallas taught me that true royalty isn't built on fear... it is built on truth, maternal courage, and unbroken love."

I held my champagne glass high under the glittering lights.

"To my Co-Chairwoman, my wife, and the queen of my heart: Donna Laura Bennett-Moretti!"

"To Laura!" the entire room erupted into a warm, unanimous standing ovation, five hundred crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
