Chapter 3 - The Assembly at the Aspen TerminalAt 9:00 AM on Christmas Eve morning, the private VIP lounge of the Aspen Jet Center in Colorado was decorated with soaring green fir trees, white orchids, and champagne fountains for high-society holiday travelers.

Sitting around a plush leather seating area, wearing expensive fur coats and cashmere sweaters, holding mimosa glasses, were my mother, Eleanor Bennett, my sister, Paige Bennett, and her fiancé, Grant Sterling. Alongside them were Grant's wealthy parents, waiting to board their private Gulfstream jet for a holiday photo shoot.

"Oh, the lighting is just divine, Grant!" Eleanor laughed, dabbing her lips with a linen napkin. "It's so wonderful we didn't bring Clara. She would have completely ruined the aesthetic of the family portrait in these furs."

"Mom," Paige chimed in, smirking over her diamond ring, "Clara is probably sitting alone in her drafty apartment right now eating canned soup. It's where she belongs."

BOOM!

The heavy double glass entrance doors of the private jet terminal were thrown open with a violent, hydraulic impact!

The laughter of the high-society travelers vanished into an absolute, speech-bound silence.

Walking down the polished marble concourse, flanked by Chief Security Director Marcus Vance and four armed federal marshals, was Nico Vale.

He wore a dark bespoke charcoal suit beneath an unbuttoned black cashmere overcoat, his broad six-foot-three frame squared, radiating an untouchable, sovereign authority that dropped the room's temperature to absolute zero.

And walking right beside him, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk suit that celebrated her full, graceful figure, her dark hair falling in glossy waves over her shoulders, her hazel eyes burning with absolute, sovereign victory... was Donna Clara Bennett.

She wore a ten-carat emerald signet pendant around her neck, her posture regal, her presence dominating the entire terminal.

Eleanor Bennett dropped her mimosa glass.

CRASH!

The crystal glass shattered flat against the marble floor, splashing champagne over her white mink coat as her face went from arrogant red to an ugly, paper-white shade of green. Paige stood up so fast she knocked her leather chair backward against the wall.

"C-CLARA...?! ELEANOR...?! NICO VALE?!" Grant Sterling stammered, taking two panicked steps backward against the window. "WHAT IS THIS ILL-MANNERED INTERRUPTING?! THIS IS A PRIVATE JET TERMINAL!"

"She isn't an interruption, Grant," Nico announced flatly, his clear, deep baritone carrying cleanly across the silent terminal, dropping the temperature to zero. "She is the Executive Chairwoman of the Bennett-Vale Heritage Trust... and the sole owner of your investment bank."

Bridget Colton stepped forward, sliding a thick stack of court-stamped legal notices flat into Eleanor Bennett’s trembling hands:

TOTAL TRUST RECOVERY: Certified federal enforcement of the Bennett Trust Deeds, transferring sixty percent controlling equity directly to Chairwoman Clara Bennett.

ARREST WARRANTS: Federal arrest warrants served on Eleanor Bennett, Paige Bennett, Brenda Mercer, and Julian Cross for Premeditated Wire Fraud, Forgery, Extortion, Identity Theft, and $90 Million Embezzlement.

IMMEDIATE FORECLOSURE: Execution of total asset freezes across all bank accounts and real estate registered under the Bennett shell companies.

"THIS IS UNLAWFUL!" Eleanor shrieked, thrashing wildly as two uniformed federal marshals stepped forward with heavy steel handcuffs. "CLARA, I AM YOUR MOTHER! YOU CAN'T LEAVE US IN HELL ON CHRISTMAS EVE!"

"You left me in the cold every single Christmas of my life, Eleanor," Clara corrected deadpan, stepping beside Nico, wrapping her broad arm around his waist, leaning flush against his solid frame. "Now you pay for my father's memory."

Eleanor Bennett and Paige Bennett thrashed and wept hysterical, groveling pleas as marshals locked heavy steel cuffs around their wrists behind their backs, dragging them out of the Aspen Jet Center in total, public disgrace, while news cameras captured their complete downfall for the morning news.
