Chapter 6 - The Festival of the Little ShieldIn late September 2026, ten months after that fateful afternoon when Lily accused Dominic, the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel in Chicago was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Lily & Rosa Delgado-Moretti Heritage Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.
On a private velvet pedestal near the presentation podium rested a beautifully framed glass shadowbox containing Lily’s original plastic earpiece, her crooked red bow, and Isabella's gold watch with its engraved words: "Come home to me."
Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing a dark bespoke charcoal tuxedo, my broad six-foot-four frame squared, my handsome face glowing with deep, quiet pride, holding five-year-old Lily in my arms, was me.
Beside me stood Donna Rosa Delgado-Moretti, looking breathtaking in a floor-length dark emerald silk evening gown, her hazel eyes glowing with complete happiness.
Around Rosa’s neck hung my late mother’s restored gold signet pendant.
I adjusted the microphone, my deep, resonant baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:
"Ten months ago, a four-year-old little girl marched into my office, wearing an oversized jacket, declared she was my new bodyguard, and saved my soul," I announced to the silent room, my gray eyes shining with genuine, unshakeable emotion as I looked down at Rosa and Lily. "And on that afternoon, she uncovered a ten-year betrayal, saved her innocent mother, claimed her sovereign birthright, and brought my entire world back to the light."
I held my champagne glass high under the glittering lights.

"To my Chairwoman, my savior, and my brilliant little bodyguard: Rosa and Lily Delgado-Moretti!"
"To Rosa and Lily!" the entire room erupted into a warm, unanimous standing ovation, five hundred crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
