Chapter 4 - The Waking of the QueenBy 10:00 AM the following morning, the sun broke through the autumn clouds over Long Island, casting bright, golden beams across the master suite of the Ferraro estate.

Nora slowly opened her eyes.
The crushing exhaustion that had weighed on her for months was gone, replaced by a warm, soothing comfort. She lay in the center of the plush bed, connected to a quiet, high-tech IV drip that was restoring her blood values under the supervision of a private nurse sitting quietly near the door.
She moved her hand slightly—and felt a warm, strong grip holding her fingers.
Nora turned her head.
Luca sat in a chair right beside her bed. He still wore his dark suit, his tie loosened, his dark hair slightly disheveled, as if he hadn't slept a single second all night. His storm-gray eyes were locked onto her face with an intensity, tenderness, and reverence she had never seen in eleven months of marriage.
"Luca...?" Nora whispered, her voice faint but clear.
Luca instantly leaned forward, bringing her hand up to his lips, pressing a long, sweet kiss against her knuckles.
"Don't try to sit up yet, sweetheart," Luca murmured softly, his deep baritone thick with an emotion that made her heart flutter. "The doctors are monitoring your levels."
Nora looked down at her wrist. The hospital wristband was gone, replaced by a delicate, breathtaking ten-carat emerald bracelet that glittered under the morning light.
She swallowed hard, looking away nervously. "You... you found the wristband, didn't you?"
"I did," Luca admitted softly.
Nora’s hazel eyes filled with tears. "I'm sorry, Luca. I know our marriage was an arrangement. I know you gave me rules and space, and I didn't mean to embarrass you by getting sick or going behind your back about the hospital—"
"Stop," Luca interrupted gently.
He shifted onto the edge of the bed, reaching out with his broad, warm hand to cup her cheek, wiping away a tear with his thumb.
"You didn't embarrass me, Nora," Luca said, his gray eyes shining with an absolute, unshakeable truth. "You humbled me. For eleven months, I thought I was protecting you by keeping my distance. I thought giving you money and a mansion was enough. I was an arrogant fool who didn't see that the bravest, most extraordinary woman in New York was sleeping in the room next to mine."
Nora stared at him, her breath hitching in her throat. "Luca...?"
"The lease on St. Bridget's Hospital has been purchased in full," Luca revealed, a soft, rare smile touching his handsome features. "It is now permanently owned by The Nora Ferraro Heritage Trust. A fifty-million-dollar research endowment has been established in your name, and Julian Ferraro will spend the next twenty years in a federal prison for trying to touch your work."
Nora covered her mouth with her free hand, tears of pure, weightless joy spilling over her lashes as she looked at her husband.
"Why... why would you do all of that for me?" she whispered.
Luca leaned down, resting his forehead gently against hers, his warm breath fanning across her skin.

"Because three days ago, I told you that a blue dress looked beautiful on you," Luca confessed softly. "And last night, I realized that my entire world is meaningless if you aren't in it. I love you, Nora. I have loved you since the day you walked into my life."
Nora let out a soft, ragged sob, wrapping her arms around his neck, pulling him down to press her lips against his in a sweet, passionate kiss that erased eleven months of cold silence forever.
