Chapter 2 - The Unraveling TitanBefore Daniel could formulate another desperate lie, the heavy double mahogany doors at the front entrance of the estate were thrown open with a thunderous BOOM! that made the crystal lamps rattle in their sconces.

Heavy, deliberate footsteps echoed across the marble foyer, approaching the study with unhurried, terrifying precision.

Walking into the room, flanked by four broad-shouldered security operators in dark, immaculate suits, was my father’s chief counsel, Jonathan Vance.

Jonathan was sixty years old, wearing a tailored charcoal suit, carrying a thick leather briefcase bound by red judicial seals. Behind him stepped three uniformed officers from the Financial Crimes Division of the State Police.

Jonathan didn't glance at Daniel or Vanessa. He walked straight past them, bowing his head respectfully before me.

"Good evening, Miss Hale," Jonathan said calmly, his baritone carrying a profound, quiet authority. "Your father has requested your immediate departure. The private medical detail is waiting in the motorcade outside."

Vanessa took three fast, clumsy steps backward, her wineglass tumbling from her hand and shattering against the hardwood floor. Red wine splashed over her manicured toes, looking like fresh arterial blood against the floorboards.

"Miss... Hale?!" Vanessa gasped, her voice shrill with sudden, terrifying realization. "Her name is Claire Vance!"

"Her legal name is Claire Hale, Miss Cole," Jonathan corrected flatly, turning his cold, gray eyes onto my husband. "And as of eleven-ten PM, Hale Global Capital has initiated full foreclosure proceedings on this residence, Miller Construction headquarters, and every private asset registered under Daniel Miller’s name."

Daniel thrashed his head back, his hands raised in a frantic, groveling gesture as he stumbled toward Jonathan. "Mr. Vance, wait! Listen to me! This is a domestic misunderstanding! Claire and I had an argument! She fell! I didn't touch her!"

"You didn't touch her, Mr. Miller?" Jonathan asked smoothly, pulling a sleek, encrypted tablet from his briefcase, tapping the screen once.

The high-definition display lit up, projecting crystal-clear digital audio and video directly from the hidden security feeds embedded in the study’s crown molding.

Daniel’s voice echoed through the quiet room with sickening clarity:

"Apologize to her... You see? She doesn't even feel guilty... If you swing that once more, Daniel, you'll spend the rest of your life remembering the moment you lost everything..."

The footage clearly captured Daniel raising the heavy leather belt, his face contorted in arrogant rage, while Vanessa stood near the door laughing with her wineglass.

Daniel’s jaw sagged open in total, speech-bound horror. His face turned an ugly, paper-white shade of green.

"Your father-in-law installed the primary security grid when he purchased this property five years ago, Mr. Miller," Jonathan revealed with a razor-sharp, freezing smile. "Every strike, every threat, and every word spoken by your mistress has been recorded, encrypted, and uploaded to our secure servers."

The lead state police officer stepped forward, pulling heavy steel handcuffs from his utility belt.

"Daniel Miller," the officer declared flatly. "You are under arrest for Aggravated Domestic Battery, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Witness Intimidation."

"NO! WAIT! CLAIRE! PLEASE!" Daniel shrieked, thrashing wildly as two broad-shouldered officers grabbed his arms, pinning him flat face-down against his own mahogany desk. "I LOVE YOU! VANESSA LIED TO ME! SHE FORCED ME TO DO IT!"

Vanessa let out an outrage, hysterical gasp. "YOU LYING BASTARD! YOU TOLD ME YOU HATED HER!"

I didn't look back at either of them.

I stepped over the shattered glass and spilled wine, walked out through the double doors into the cool night air, and stepped into my father's armored Bentley waiting in the driveway.

Behind me, the house Daniel thought he owned was sealed with yellow law enforcement tape.
