Chapter 7 - The Empire of Love

The wedding wasn’t featured in the society columns of the New York Times. There were no politicians trying to curry favor, no corporate moguls angling for mergers.

It was a celebration of survival, of loyalty, and of a family forged in the fires of betrayal and reborn in grace.

As Marcus officiated the ceremony with quiet, dignified pride, standing beneath an archway of white roses with my twin daughters giggling in the front row, I realized how far I had come from that freezing night under the highway overpass.

I was no longer the invisible woman who had learned how to disappear.

I was Ava Vance. Wife, mother, and queen of a world built not on fear, but on absolute, unwavering protection.

Later that evening, as the stars twinkled over the glittering skyline of Manhattan and the guests danced softly in the penthouse ballroom, Elias led me out onto the private balcony.

The cool night air brushed against our skin, carrying the scent of spring and the distant hum of the city below.

Elias wrapped his arms around my waist from behind, pulling me flush against his chest. He rested his chin on my shoulder, his warm breath fanning against my neck.

“What are you thinking about?” he murmured softly.

I looked out over the river, watching the lights shimmer across the water, then turned my head to press a gentle kiss to his cheek.

“I was thinking about how wrong Jonathan was,” I whispered with a radiant smile.

Elias raised an eyebrow, tightening his grip around me. “About what?”

“He thought having daughters was a curse,” I said, leaning back into his strong, steady embrace. “He thought we were worthless because we couldn't build him an empire.”

Elias’s dark eyes softened into a look of absolute, breathtaking adoration. He pressed his lips to mine in a deep, fierce, unhurried kiss that tasted like forever.

“Let the fools build empires on sand,” Elias whispered against my lips. “We built something real. And nobody is ever taking it away from us.”
