Chapter 7 - Unbroken and Forever HomeAt 8:30 PM, as the spring sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky over Lake Geneva in brilliant shades of indigo and gold, the private terrace was illuminated by dozens of soft, twinkling fairy lights.

The acoustic band began playing a gentle, majestic waltz that drifted through the quiet night air, mixing with the gentle sound of the lake waves crashing against the stone pier below.

I stood at the edge of the terrace balustrade, holding my champagne flute, looking out at the sparkling waters where my family's commercial ships glided peacefully under the open sky.

There were no arrogant husbands telling me to pack my things in the dark. There were no mistresses wearing perfume on shirts. There were no tears swallowed in quiet closets.
